In the interest of getting this stickied thread back on track (thankfully the troll is now gone!)

I joined almost 2 years ago. Actually I had another nickname first and I lurked for several months. I found the site when I googled something. I was looking for ways to meet black men. Most of the things that came up where sex sites or dating sites. This one had forums. I had been involved in other forums before and found them to be interesting so I came here and went directly to the forums. I thought the ads and the home page were pretty hokey (sorry)

1. What was your "status" when you joined up?
Single

2. What were you hoping to get from this forum/site?
I don't know that I was hoping to get anything. I appreciated some of the posts and the intelligent interaction that was going on between some of the members.

3. Has either of those changed since you joined?
I'm still single at the moment with someone of interest in mind...we shall see in the coming days.
It goes in waves in regards to the forums. Right now, things seem to be going rather well and there is a good core group again.

1. I joined very recently. I'm sinlge. I met a BM about a year ago who changed my view on myself, on life, on men, who opened up a whole new world for me. I was always intrigued and curious about BM, always found them attractive but never explored it for various reasons ie family etc. This man and I are still friends and I have been out with other black men since. All I can say is my desire for and attraction to black men became over powering after "him", I'm automatically drawn to black men now like never before. White men don't do it for me. I'm not ruling anything out, its whoever you click with but if I see a black man and a white man, my eye will linger longer on the black man. Personally, I am finally secure enough in myself now to go after what I want.

2. I came across the site by accident while googling something else entirely. I joined to meet like minded people.

3. I'm new here so nothing's changed.

I joined in 2005. I was dating/in a relationship with a Ghanaian guy - there were some problems in the relationship anyway but I was feeling quite ostracised by it. My friends didn't seem to be able to be sensible about it, and I felt there was some racism in their attitude. So I wanted to join a forum of like minded people.

Since then I've dated black guys and white guys (but no Asian guys!) I've been in an on/off relationship with a Nigerian guy for about a year now, but have enough confidence not to be so bothered about what my friends think about it. And my friends seem to have come round to an extent, as well!

I joined this forum nearly two weeks ago. I was visiting this site called Afrochat.net and I was debating IR with many of the American "black supremacists" that are members of the forum.

I was entertained by their irrational and silly reason for being strongly against IR. But the hatred was midly amusing, especially coming from pseudo-intelectuals.

Their arguments were if you're a black man and date or marry a white woman, you're a "race traitor", "assimilationist", suffered from "self-hate", "Stockholm syndrome" etc for wanting to date the children of your oppressors . Which means that since the Russians and the Czechs never enslaved or colonized the Africans, it's perfectly ok for black men to date or marry Russians or Czech girls Some gave cultural reason for it being impossible for a black American and white American female to date or get married because they have two very different cultures and background etc. So I countered by saying that then it would also be impossible for a continental African to marry a black American woman because the difference in cultures were like night and day. In short, I just enjoyed using their own logic to pick apart their arguments and I was insulted all the time and very hated there.

So I really came across this site totally by accident while searching something about black celebrites in Europe who were in IR on google. I decided to join when I found some the topics here very interesting

 

I got onto this site by accident. At first I thought it had shut down (the same photo and topic everytime) Webmaster are you listening?

I was curious about the depth of interracial relationships. On this site I found very intelligent topics and even more intelligent discussions ( for the most part) People here are not as close minded as on other IR sites. Blackplanet was mentioned in one of these posts. I would suggest to the poster to try the groups within BP or even create a group. Still even then the quality of discussion doesn`t come close to this site.

I believe the reason for this good quality is the separation of forum from personals. Have I learned anything from this site? Yes:smt109

 

Since I just joined this site I would like to share too. I recently broke up with my first IR man because of him cheating...then found out he lied about many things over the past year, he grew up in a Chicago ghetto and had been a Marine for 26 years which is why I think he had such issues..but he was funny, intelligent, educated, open about his past, proud to be with me, financially successful I loved him deeply..I learned alot about bm through him, but I wanted to know more about other people in IR relationships, I wanted to hear about other experiences, I feel drawn still to bm now for some unexplainable reason and it is not sexual. I want to hear that people in IR relationships can be faithful and happy. Looking at the personal ads on this site made me discouraged because it seemed so shallow and all about sex. But this forum gives me hope for the IR relationship, that there are many intelligent black men who enjoy white woman and not just as a physical thing. I learned alot from him and without him now am continuing to learn about BM and IR, so thankful people are so open. :smt056

Tink, I would like to address this question, but I am not convinced I could be fair based on my personal experience. Perhaps in chat when it's not public record we can talk.... When I say my experience, I mean my time served in the military and dating within the military.

My status was that I was single (still am), childfree by choice (and loving it), 1) and I preferred to interracially date.
2) I would hope to get some advice and helpful information.
3) I haven't changed at all. I joined last week.

I'm on the West Coast and I'm currently single. It depends if anyone on here are my type. My preferences are pretty limited. My ideal woman would be pale white, attractive, thin, childfree (never want kids), drama free, loving, sexually active, not a liar nor a cheater, and understanding.
