you are not serious at all. When you display ignorance on an issue and display a singular world view, sarcasm is not the best resort
Its only people who identify as black and kooks on SF that keep pushing this ludicrous idea of accepting something so stupid because "you dont have a choice"
Subscribing to a nonsensical white supremacist idea invented out of thin air is definately a choice
Some of the best resorts are in the US but it was very appropriate RETORT in the context of what we're talking about. It's like you talking about how bullshit it is for countries in Africa to treat their women so horribly and me telling you you guys need to catch up to the rest of world. Most civilized nations allow women heads of state. You guys are still practicing laws created by insecure men. What would be the point of that if you already called the practices bullshit?
Ok, we go it! you're a mix guy with blk African father and white European mother, you considered yourself a white guy your whole life in your land. Then one day you left you shack and came to America to get education. The moment you hit JFK airport you were so happy and was kissing the ground and could not wait to Hi-Five your white brethern but instead ppl gave you the black treatment. All your time that was spent in America you were refered as a Black man and that created an agnoizing night mare for you. You were so pisssed about that now you're out there on internet to change the hearts and minds of American so you can be declare yourself as a White guy again..... oaky my friend, you're white, drink up the koolaid :drinkers:

There is some truth to that especially when it comes it comes to racializing the world. The American lenses especially when it comes to "race" is very bizzare
Many black Americans for example dont realize that if a black and white American travelled to say Somalia, both would be seen as foreigners equally. None would be treated as somebody of the same "race"
What people percieve as "race" here in America is very different in other parts of the world
Somebody in Somalia would definately not percieve an Ashanti man from Ghana as his "race"
but I dont know how to explain that to Americans

I don't subscribe to it at all, but you don't have to subscribe to it to be aware of it. I'm not a Mormon, but I know many people are and have a different belief system because of it.
And in response to my earlier post, I believe you're misunderstanding me. I understand that ethnic differences in Africa and most heterogeneous developing societies existed well before the arrival of Europeans. What I was stating in my post is that Europeans colonizers created and exacerbated difference between people for their own economic ends and used racialist theories to justify their divisions of many colonial societies. Where these divisions did not exist, they created them. That is the basis behind the creole-ization phenomena so prevalent throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

From one Barcelona fan to another, I hear you as well. My ex considered herself white, lol, but when she got to the U.S. she was considered Hispanic, lol. She also told me that my father didn't "look" Black, but I know that it was her perception based on race as well. Go Barcelona!!!
Europeans exploited differences between people where they could to benefit themselves where ever they could.
But basic feelings of differences in Africa has nothing to do with Europeans
With or without Europeans
An Amhara would have looked at a Yoruba man and seen that he does not look like him. He would also know that they dont share any commonality in language, culture, traditions, history religion etc
A Somali would look at an Ijaw and know that he does not look like him either and does not share any of the other things in common with him. The same with a Tuareg and a Zulu or a Fulani and a Shona
in many cases they know that the other group does NOT look like them
but more importantly, they dont share the commonalities that matter in these societies like a common language or a common culture or common traditions etc
That is where the basic feelings of difference comes from
The idea of them being one and the same because of a "racial classification", is a European idea
South American history is also different because the racial classifications has everything to do with Europeans
on the other hand, African ethnic identities, languages, cultures along with the feelings of difference existed long before any European set foot on the continent

You don't have to be black if you want. Whiteness is around the corner for you if you truly believe. So all you good little boys and girls click your heals three times and say "I'm white that's right I'm white" three times after every click. Remember to do it all three times you don't want to end up mulatto or maybe even Native American God forbid lol.
Again, I believe you're misunderstanding me. In an earlier post, I stated very clearly that I am well aware of the physical and cultural differences among various African ethnic groups and the idea that they are each distinct peoples with no sense of commonality among them. What I said, however, is that Europeans layered racialist thinking on top of existing divisions to further exploit groups and prevent the possibility of collective action.
I agree with a lot of the things you have posted actually. You are the person with the most reasoned debate on here
since you seem to have a good idea of where I am coming from, the question to you then would be
Why would I spend even one second of my life agitating that a Puetorican Person or a Brazillian or a Columbian or an American who looks like he comes from France classify themselves as "my race"
I dont share any cultural commonality or language or history with the person. I also dont even look like the person at all
why should I have a problem with them classifying themselves as white if they wish? What would be my issue with that? why should I abide by what a white supremacist said a 100 years ago that has no relevance to me whatsoever?
If you can wear my lenses for 10 seconds, you can see why i feel it is the utmost stupidity ever
nothing could be more comical and silly than people insisting that the lady on this thread is so and so or that Halle Berry's daughter is so and so
At some point, about 10 pages ago, this was actually interesting, but now it's plain boring. I don't hear anything about a "world" view of race as much as one African's view of race, period. If your starting point for a racial discussion is that multi-racial people stand out in a country of darker skinned people then, then half the people in my family, and probably half or Black Americans would be considered "white" because of varying mixes of distant white ancestry.
As Mr. F stated, it's pretty outrageous to go into someone's backyard and tell them that their laundry is dirty, lol. In a word, you are being barca-izated.
Barca-ization: to dominate your opponent so completely that they will never ever muster the ability to beat you.-
