Yeah, it was the most expensive game ever made at the time it was released. I believe when the first one came out, they would've had to have sold twice as many copies as their were Dreamcasts available to make a profit. I really hope the game isn't condensed. They keep putting out Dynasty Warriors n' shit. The fan in me wants the same for Shenmue, even though the budget is WAY more. It's a highly ambitious series, man (Shenmue) and they wanted to make 24 chapters, but seems unfeasible due to budget constraints and whether the previous games were selling good enough to make another installment. That all depended, after all, on whether SEGA could make it work. They had a small slump last generation, but, now, there is hope. But, I think they will definitely condense the series and rush it to an end. After all, Yu Suzuki is getting old and it would be hard for someone else to make that same vision come to life.
I'm glad to see Shenmue 3 come out and see the light of day and hope that it does gain a bigger audience.
The Dreamcast was definitely a major hit, and sadly it didn't stay within the console wars long enough. It was virtually perfect in many ways and the games were just outstanding, whether first or third party.
It was just timing that killed the DC. It was killin' it when it first came out. But then came the Ps2 with dvd playback. It was over.
