Yeah, it was the most expensive game ever made at the time it was released. I believe when the first one came out, they would've had to have sold twice as many copies as their were Dreamcasts available to make a profit. I really hope the game isn't condensed. They keep putting out Dynasty Warriors n' shit. The fan in me wants the same for Shenmue, even though the budget is WAY more.

It was just timing that killed the DC. It was killin' it when it first came out. But then came the Ps2 with dvd playback. It was over.

With Dynasty Warriors, it's a straight forward hack n' slash, with subtle story elements to keep the game going. Also, their man incarnations like the Gundam and Hyrule Warriors, and the more recent Dragon Quest one will keep things going for the franchise. With Shenmue, it's more like an interactive novel that takes time to finish due to expanding the story and taking their time to build the characters and world and let it all converge to the finale, which is why games like that take much longer to make. Quality assured, but delays will be inevitable.

And actually, the Kickstarter budget is less than the original game, which makes it all the more interesting. Whoever decides to publish the game, especially if we're talking first-party, they will have a huge gem on their hands.

As for the Dreamcast's demise...it was based more on the PS2 looming around the corner. They tried everything to make the DC more relevant and popular. It was successful, initially, but that had more to do with the PS2's hardware shortage and lack of games upon release. They just didn't have the support they needed to keep the momentum going, which is sad. It was a sexy beast altogether.

Even though the Dreamcast fell, I recall reading various articles saying in Japan they were still developing games for the it long after it disappeared in America. But yeah, like you said, a game like Shenmue takes more time to develop and is a much deeper game than Dynasty Warriors.

The first 'warriors' game I played was warriors orochi for ps4 a few months ago

    It was FUN

So much FUN that I decided to play dynasty warriors gundam on my ps3......for a whole 2 hours

I haven't touched a warriors game since.........you all know why

Absolutely. And it's also risky for the gaming market now due to development costs being much higher. And you're right...there have been games that came out for the Dreamcast after it disappeared in America. There was still hope, but no cigar.

After almost THREE YEARS and much stress and patience, I am VERY PROUD to report that my oldest son will be taking his oath to serve in the U.S. Army tomorrow morning!

    I'm so excited for him!

While some kids have the drive to push themselves through school, some are super smart or talented and are given scholarships or their parents are fortunate and BLESSED enough to be able to put them through school, my son has worked his butt off in that he's been super persistent in pursuing a military career.

He's been in school and has been working part time, living with me for the past three years. While I will miss him and obviously worry about my baby leaving home, I am so proud and happy for him to spread his wings!

Thought I'd share the good news :)

    Thanks everybody!

It took so long because we had so many issues back-and-forth with the acne medicine Accutane he was taking about five years ago, and all of the damn redtape we had to get through and notes from doctors we needed and medical screening

It just took so long so I'm relieved excited and hopeful!

    :)

It depends. A lot of things you can get waivers for. But since the army is downsizing, they are more strict on everything.

Were out of Iraq. Afghanistan is winding down. This happens after every war. Soon as the next thing jumps off, we'll be giving waivers to felons again. It'll be 9/11 all over again and every other war starter.
