Well, a kickstarter has been announced for my favorite game series of all time. After 13 years of silence, Shenmue lives.
Yup, whoopin' ass down at the harbor. I can't count how many times I've beaten the game. The reason I bought my favorite game system, Dreamcast, was because of this game. I remember reading about it in Game Informer when I was 10. I was in Gamestop and some dude got Shenmue for Christmas and wanted to trade it in because he didn't like it. Dude decided to sell it to me for $25. Cashier was salty as fuck since he lost a sale/trade-in. Muthafucka was like "you guys can't do that in here". Whatever corncob. I got my game. Fanboying over.

Man, DC was THE console. I was a monster on NFL2k. Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, Power Stone. SHEEEEIT!!!! But Shenmue is very much alive. In other news, Shenmue, the fast growing game to hit $1 million on Kickstarter ever. I thought I was alone in my Shenmue fandom. We deep out here, mane! Not even 12 hours after the announcement, (as I type this), Shenmue has made $1,819,674 of it's 2 million dollar goal. The campaign is 31 days and we're gonna hit the goal in just a couple hours!! It's a highly ambitious series, man (Shenmue) and they wanted to make 24 chapters, but seems unfeasible due to budget constraints and whether the previous games were selling good enough to make another installment. That all depended, after all, on whether SEGA could make it work. They had a small slump last generation, but, now, there is hope. But, I think they will definitely condense the series and rush it to an end. After all, Yu Suzuki is getting old and it would be hard for someone else to make that same vision come to life. I'm glad to see Shenmue 3 come out and see the light of day and hope that it does gain a bigger audience. The Dreamcast was definitely a major hit, and sadly it didn't stay within the console wars long enough. It was virtually perfect in many ways and the games were just outstanding, whether first or third party.
Hey, Nintendo will always be my first love, too. However, I'm not blinded by fanaticism like in the old days when the console wars meant something and games were better.
