Agreed...but no one seems to want to do any of that.

It's simple as knowing that it takes specific tools to fix certain issues. If I don't know what tools are needed, I don't do anything until I find out even if that means doing nothing at all. It's not that hard to accept not having the answer. Why panic and jump to conclusions?

In order for me to consider putting some serious thought into it, I would first have to know that the listeners really even want to hear an answer. It's just too hard to take anyone seriously when they are so much as entertaining the idea of protesting.

Do you think there is any value to bringing attention to the issue?

I'm not talking about doing so through protesting. I'm talking about bringing attention to it at all??

You don't think law enforcement knows about Chicago? :smt005

I'm trying here K, but really?

Do you really think law enforcement is who decides if it's addressed or not?

3 ways to stop a criminal

    1) Make him legit
    2) Put him in jail
    3) You can guess this one

Do you know a 4th one?

And who do you suggest can do any of the above three tasks?

There is such a thing as prevention of criminal activity.

    To a certain extent.

Unless you believe in "minority report" the possibility of getting caught is the biggest deterrent. That doesn't actually prevent the crime from happening.

I would think #1 encompasses this.

Law enforcement (in the purest sense) has one job and that is to follow policies and procedures in order to enforce the laws that are on the books.

They don't control whether or not anyone is legit.
They don't control if they are jailed.
They can (and often do) control #3.

I'm not defending them in any way whatsoever. I'm simply saying that they aren't the ones in control of identifying the problem or solutions.

I took in #1 as make whatever he is doing legal like marijuana being legal in states and not so much having afterschool programs for the kiddos to stay out of trouble.

You tell me whose attention it should be brought too. :smt081

Then there is no deterrent at all. If you understand how few police there are and statistics then you will understand how low of a chance you have of getting caught for say speeding or consuming drugs in your house.

I was more or less talking about afterschool programs for kids to not get into trouble and the other stuff that take kids minds off of trouble. pokemon go and what not...

Yah - I was taking it as bigger than that. Probably my own slant on things there - I focus on being proactive rather than reactive.

Well that's what I've been asking you.... Who, and what should be done

Agreed. And they more than likely will they think thats the solution. They need to invest in mental health. But that'll never happen.

The onus is on the people that think Chicago is the way it is because black people got together one day and decided to allow crime there. If they can present to us a stupid idea, they can come up with a better one, because it doesn't get any dumber than protesting gang members, the floor of stupidity has been found.
