I think in a way, he's trying to convey how he really feels. I read an excerpt in the newspapers today and it mentioned Eric Holder saying that we have a choice to make. He said should the US be defined by racial discord/division, or should we launch a national effort to completely revamp the way people deal with each other and how police deal with citizens.

With everything going right now in society (too much for me to list), it feels like a lot of things are crumbling and falling apart.

Actually there is someone that I met on a Catholic dating site. Her name is Clare, but she lives in Minnesota, so I can't see her in person. So at least I am trying to get somewhere with a relationship that's actually stable and mutually respectful.

Yes, and to Ra: This is because it is TOO EASY for ANYONE to get employed as a police officer in the US. If they increased the standards for hiring officers across the whole nation and if we had a citizenry with a better overall quality, we would not lead the ENTIRE WORLD with our incarceration rates in comparison to other industrialized countries (which aren't that far off from ours).

If we created a new thread, people would just ignore it and it would fade. We need to have a talk about this and the best place ended up being here. Again, the militarization of the police is not even limited to black people, it's all kinds of people they go after for any reason. They attack students aggressively too, see the reviews below. An again also Ra, if there is a distrust between the legal system and the citizenry, you will have a collapse of the entire democracy because of it.

The rumors are that about 1,000 students get arrested for underage drinking or something similar. Be careful if you come to school here as there is a very aggressive attitude to arresing students. Despite the fact that all of the bars will let you in, there are many arrests outside of the bars. The dorms instruct the people manning the desks to call the police and not let the student into the dorm if they appear drunk What a terrible attitude when the university knows that 98% of the underage students drink. Why is there such an efort to have them arrested, rather than going through some type of university counseling program? Most of the students arested do not have a drinking problem. They are good kids that are achieving well in school and are just doing something occassionally that almost every student does. What a horrible way to treat its students rather than trying to develop something more meaningful.

Advice: DO NOT COME HERE. Drinking downtown is pretty much the only social activity, but the cops constantly arrest you. Even your first time getting busted for underage drinking, the cops will handcuff you behind the back, take you jail, fingerprint you, photograph you, and lock you in a cell. You could wait up to 5 or 6 hours before even being allowed a phone call. And it's not just people who are being belligerant downtown. Students are FREQUENTLY arrested INSIDE THEIR OWN DORMS!! Even if they are not in in possession of alcohol containers. The UGA police use trickery and heavy-handed tactics to intimidate you into confessing. I repeat DO NOT ATTEND UGA. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!

I understand that about the women. Personally, I'm in no rush. My primary focuses right now are on employment, sports, navigating in the workplace and maintaining a good camaraderie with my future co-workers and CEO. Certainly when the situation here is better would be a good time to think about dating and relationships. I have also learned on this site that dating women you meet in the workplace is mostly not a good idea.
