Upcoming IR slate

I've written in this thread that I was waiting on confirmation of certain relationships in upcoming films before I would post them. Well, one of those IR pairings has been confirmed thanks to a just dropped trailer.

The High Note

Kelvin Harrison Jr
Dakota Johnson

The movie was originally called "Covers" (a much better name in my opinion) and if you check out the Deadline link below you can get a more specific breakdown of what the film is about.

Harrison was cast third after Johnson and Tracee Ellis so I knew he had a big role. I also saw a few shots of him on location with Dakota Johnson so I had my suspicions., especially since she and Harrison are close in age and there wasn't another guy on the cast list who was a more likely love interest.

The Deadline writeup doesn't have anything to say about Harrison's role (he wasn't cast at the time) , but you can get a sense of what he's going to be up to in the movie by looking at the trailer.

Nice find. Good to see Kelvin Harrison, jr again.

EXCLUSIVE: Aya Cash, from FX’s You’re the Worst and Fosse/Verdon, and William Jackson Harper, who just wrapped his four-season run on NBC’s The Good Place, will topline We Broke Up, an indie comedy directed by Jeff Rosenberg.

Additional cast includes Sarah Bolger (Mayans M.C.), Tony Cavalero (School of Rock), Peri Gilpin (Frasier), Kobi Libii (The Opposition with Jordan Klepper), Azita Ghanizada (Good Trouble), Zak Steiner (Euphoria), Eduardo Franco (Booksmart), Larisa Oleynik (The Healing Powers of Dude) and Emily Pendergast (Veep).

Rosenberg co-wrote the screenplay with Laura Jacqmin. The story centers on Lori and Doug (Cash and Harper), a longtime couple who break up just days before Lori’s little sister Bea’s (Bolger) wedding to Jayson (Cavalero). In order to not disrupt the fun, the couple decides to pretend they’re still together until the weekend is over. But pretending isn’t as easy as they think it’ll be.

Matt Ratner of Tilted Windmill Productions, John Hermann and Mason Novick are producing the project with Rosenberg. Executive producers are Alan Mintz, Steve Aviles, Larry Babin and Lawrence D. Bain as well as Tomás Yankelevich, Peter Bevan, and Mariana Sanjurjo for Particular Crowd.

Cash, repped by UTA and Industry Entertainment, most recently starred in the Sundance horror-comedy Scare Me, and will soon be seen in the upcoming second season of The Boys for Amazon. Harper recently appeared in Focus Features’ Dark Waters and A24’s Midsommar. Repped by UTA and AC Management, he is currently in production on Barry Jenkins’ limited series The Underground Railroad for Amazon.

Thanks for saving me the time and effort. I saw the announcement this morning and a couple of hours later I saw that you had already posted it.

Well mea culpa. Saw "The Invisible Man" the other day and there was no IR going on between its two leads. Aldis Hodge got a lot of screentime and did well with it, getting the best reviews of the cast other than Elizabeth Moss. But they don't have any hint of a romance in the movie nor any suggestion of even a prior flirtation or crush. They are just buds without really any explanation of why they are friends or their history. The only reason why I know Hodge's character is a widower is because that was how his character was described during his casting announcement, none of that is discussed in the film. Hell, instead of giving him a daughter they might as well have given him a wife. Even worse the filmmakers made a certain decision in prioritizing who Moss ended up worrying about that is so typical and kinda ticked me off. I'll discuss it later. Yeah, overall is a pretty good film but imo they dropped the ball on that front.

First look and some details about Kristen Stewart's Seberg from Venice Film festival.

How the relationship between her and Jamal(Anthony Mackie) started is detailed in this review from the film festival.(WARNING: some spoilers)
While living it up in first class, this lilywhite girl from Marshalltown, Iowa just happens to cross paths with Hakim Jamal (Anthony Mackie), an outgoing but controversial leader of the Black Power movement. They make eyes at each other, and Seberg decides to join the handsome stranger for a widely publicized salute when they touch down in California (an awkwardly staged moment in a movie that’s full of them). She drives over to Jamal’s Compton house that night because she wants to “make a difference.” And she will — once they’re done having sex.

Set to arrive on Amazon Prime Video this Friday, May 15.

Stewart is a nondescript actress with the range of a cardboard cutout. However, The tragic life story of Jean Seberg is very compelling.

She seems to have the personality of cardboard, too. That is true, but Stewart playing the part is further proof that a book is always better than what's on film. ;)

All of those movies are trash, to this day I can’t see how anyone liked them. She ain’t even cute enough to keep my attention, just annoyingly bland.

I never got the appeal either. It (and she) looked corny and dull. Evidently a lot of people find that crap appealing though.

My ex wasn’t the biggest fan but she watched em cuz she liked the books. So of course I got dragged in. Waste of time.

Yep. I love to read, but the books held no appeal for me either. It's kind of like that lame 50 Shades of Gray crap. I never read the books, but the excerpts I read were funny as hell. Sadly the author failed to achieve the erotic effect she was going for. A lot of women thought differently though; they went crazy for that weak and silly shit. I never bothered with those movies either.

You got good taste. I’m a fan of that definitely ;)

1 - Stewart had a string of a few good years post Twilight doing independent and foreign films that were highly acclaimed. Unfortunately the last two years she has stumbled mostly with her attempt to do Hollywood mainstream movies again.

2 - No offense, folks, but this thread was created for announcements of interracial relationship films involving black men and discussion if need be of those movies. Can we not fill it with back and forth discussions in which we debate whether a certain actor or actress has any talent? Just like that dude on this site who wishes to protect the tone of his Nerdz Lounge, I feel the same way about this thread.
