I am optimistic about this series, I like that it actually seems somewhat like an actual Trek show.

However, I do have a few nitpicks.

I'm not a fan of the 'plain Jane' they cast as Uhura, Nichelle Nichols, and Zoe Saldana's version of Uhura was smart and hot, I kind of wish they kept the hot part intact.

I'm getting a sense that this show is going to follow the other new Trek tradition of overcompensating and overrepresenting tough women and effeminate men.

Since this is technically a prequel to the Original Series. I also wonder how they will explain that the Enterprise went from a crew of mostly women and POC to mostly white guys.

I really wanted to like PICARD, but I can't (because its awful) seeing the whole OG cast coming back would be so cool if they brought back OG Star Trek writers/producers. In the hands of the New Trek people, I'm actually worried for my old favorite characters. Seriously I wouldn't be surprised if they gave one or more of those old characters some BS modern personal issue, like Geordi having a Transgender son, or Dr. Crusher developing a space gambling addiction.

Big fan of the series but they need to go ahead & wrap up everything and be done. Worse thing they can do is continue to try milking it beyond what's necessary to tell the story they originally planned.

Next season (season 5) will be the final season, it's already planned. I'm hoping that means the creators have a satisfying finish planned.

    But then come the spinoffs

Charlamagne Tha God Launches New Graphic Novel and Comic Series

Radio host, TV personality and best-selling author Lenard 'Charlamagne Tha God' Mckelvey announced his plans to expand his media empire by developing new lines of graphic novels and comic book series with AWA Studios, Simon & Schuster and more.

Charlamagne tapped comic book creator Kevin Grevioux (Marvel's New Warriors, DC's Cyborg) as the writer for a new original graphic novel, Darkstorm. Darkstorm will be released under Charlamagne's Black Privilege Publishing, which is an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Featuring artwork by Ken Lashley, the novel focuses on a reluctant superhero who struggles with PTSD and is seen as an anti-hero, at best, by most of the public.

"When you get the opportunity to work on some great characters, you jump at the chance," Lashley said. "I am drawn to strong characters of color, and there are not many in mainstream comics, but Darkstorm is just that. It's also created by Kevin Grevioux, who is a very talented writer and created another powerful character in The Blue Marvel, so it's a win-win... it's very exciting."

Charlamagne and Grevioux have also partnered with AWA Studios to develop a new series called The Vindicators, which features a diverse superhero team with an "uber-realistic origin basis that is relatable even against the backdrop of a dystopian future." AWA Studios CEO Bill Jemas commented, "Charlamagne That God is one of the most compelling voices in culture today. His passion for comics was abundantly clear when we met him. But what truly blew us away was his handle on comic storytelling. We look forward to working with him and bringing his amazing concepts and visions to life, starting with The Vindicators."

"If you know anything about me, then you know how much I love comics," Charlamagne said. "I'm the guy who got Wolverine holding a microphone tattooed on his arm when he was 17 because of my love of comics. Partnering with Kevin Grevioux to present this new universe, filled with Black and Brown GOD Level superheroes, is a dream come true. A lot of the black superheroes I loved growing up were street level and that's cool, but I want to see Omega Level superheroes that look like me and people around me, and that's exactly what we are giving you with Darkstorm and The Vindicators. I am blessed and excited to continue the important work with my Black Privilege imprint on Simon & Schuster and begin partnerships with comic book veterans like Bill Jemas, [AWA co-founder] Axel Alonso, and the whole team at AWA Studios. It's collaborations like this that help to build an empire and I'm grateful to have found good ones."

"I feel blessed to be working with a guy that is as successful as Charlamagne, a one-of-a-kind cultural icon with global reach," Grevioux added. "He also has an incredible genre IQ for science fiction, comics, and fantasy. So, I truly believe that he is the absolute perfect partner for these ventures. The world's really not ready for what we have in store."

Release dates for Darkstorm and The Vindicators have not yet been announced.
