Does anyone have any experience hand or bottle feeding kittens?
My cat has a three week old kitten and started ignoring it for the most part about a week ago. On occasion I'm able to get her to nurse and clean the baby if I'm holding both of them, but it's not long before she takes off. I've got the cat milk substitute and also a bottle and a small syringe, and I've been trying to do it myself. Sometimes she'll accept the milk from the syringe, but she seems not to like the bottle (my guess is because the nipple is bigger than what she's used to). I don't feel like she's eating enough, which worries me. I don't want the baby to die. I don't know if it's because I just haven't gotten the hang of it yet, or if it just takes more time for the kitten to adjust, but I wonder if I'm worrying for nothing. Taking care of an abandoned kitten is a lot of work, and I feel like I suck at it.
If anyone whose experienced this has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.
