All of this info makes me realize just how much I was winging it with the pets I raised

Didn't have access to the internet and other people's experiences like this back in the 80s

When I raised a rabbit, I just put it into a cage lined with paper and fed him carrots

He lived for years but still...I'm pretty sure other people had more elaborate plans

if you have a petsmart or petco close by they sell baby kitten bottles...not easy to find the ones with the very small nipple that is soft...there is also a special kitten milk or powder you mix with water...i use to put the kitten in a snug footie sock with their head sticking out to feed...plan on making a mess

you also need to help them go potty...the mother licks them but you can just use a dish rag or towel...get it warm/damp and stroke it on the area they eliminate

Yeah, it's hard to figure it all out without any kind of instruction, so winging it was all we could do back in the day.

    Thanks, Lippy. :freehug:

The only thing we have around here is Walmart, which is where I found the kitten milk and the only kind of pet bottle they had on hand. My mother brought by a bigger syringe today that I'm having a bit better luck with. I like the sock idea, and I'll definitely be giving that a try.

I've got some disposable cloths I've been using to help it potty.

    Yep, it is messy work.

I just hope the kitty survives. I guess all I can do is try my best to make that happen. The way the mama cat left the baby hanging makes me wonder if she was taking care of it as well as I thought she was the first couple of weeks.

Lol when we're in the pool it's on. He does every stunt imaginable on me lol. Baby boy is crazy strong for his age! I eventually get tired of being dunked and sic him on his sister. Cause that's what an awesome mama does lol :D
