It's open season on trans-everything now Whatever you FEEL like you can be it and can't nobody say otherwise
Such insane horseshit the only difference is that when shit gets hot or too real they can retreat to the safety of whiteness. It's no more than a vacation for them. Incredibly sad and offensive.
"Hah, now for an extra special kicker...turns out I've just been informed by a friend and ally at Eastern Washington U. (who was involved in bringing me to campus to speak there last semester), that it was Rachel Dolezal who had objected to me coming, because I, as a white man, can't speak to race issues involving black people. First, they got a dictionary at EWU where she can look up "irony?" And second, her objection is perfectly indicative of her problem. She thinks I seek to speak from authority on blackness. No, that's not me, that's YOU Rachel. I only seek to speak about whiteness. Her confusion on that point is the source of pretty much all this bullshit: not knowing the difference between confronting whiteness and seeking to speak for blackness." If she hasn't retreated to the safety of her whiteness by now, then when??? I think she's deep within her 'Blackness'. It's not a fad or trend for her. It's her chosen identity. Melissa Harris Perry had a Stanford prof Alysson Hobbs on to discuss this issue, who wrote a book called A Chosen Exile, about Blacks who left behind their racial history and passed for White. Again I find it troubling when someone tries to pass for White, it's considered an understandable, albeit, self-hate filled choice based on pragmatism. But somehow when a White person so identifies their own existence with the Black experience and makes the choice to pass for Black, she's insane/crazy/delusional. This woman didn't have the parachute of her Whiteness to bail her out of hard times. She's been Black all day, every day for such a long time I don't think she knows the difference. I'll take the vacation analogy a step further. Visiting Jamaica for a weekend doesn't make you Jamaican. Moving your family to Kingston, changing your citizenship and relinquishing your passport is a fundamental change in identity. If the woman has Black on her ID and all official documents, it's hard for someone to say this is a hobby for her.
I implore you to read the Boston Globe article I posted since they articulate it far better than I can. This shit is a mockery
Never read anyone work so hard to defend the concept of race in America. If Ms. Dolezal had applied to Howard as a White person, her admissions would have been much easier because of their desire for racial diversity. Assuming Blackness did not help her get into Howard undergrad. And saying she benefited from pretending to be Black is nonsense. She probably still would have been the Spoken NAACP director as a WW. Spokane isn't exactly Bowie, Maryland. I get people on the surface being offended, but if someone thinks she's doing some next level Black face impression, they're letting their own racial biases misunderstand what's going on with this woman. IMO just from her background I think Ms. Dolezal is Blacker than a lot of Black folks out here. So now people get the thrill of outing her. So what?? It won't change how she sees herself or how she lives her life. What's nutty to me is, if this woman's great grandmother was a quarter Black, nobody would question her Blackness. That's where Ms. Dolezal messed up. She should have traced her genealogy until she found somebody almost Black and her detractors would gladly have issued her a new Black card.:|
I don't see evil intent..I see overcompensating mixed with some kind of black fetishism and some level of mental disturbance that has to with her parents and family life. She actually DID commit a crime in filing false reports of hate crimes to the police. That's a detriment. She may have filed papers applying for municipal jobs with the city lying about her background and that's a firable offense..that's a detriment. She looks crazy and foolish for doing it to her friends and colleagues and that's a detriment personally and professionally. If she was planning some kind of Black Like Me reality tv show/ book tour celebrity deal surely it wouldn't have ten years to do that.. so where the hell are all these benefits she's suppose to be reaping?
Dude what the fuck is that suppose to mean? And you act like without her Spokane has absolutely no black population. And if all it takes to be black is hang with black people and get a tan then our ranks have swelled beyond belief. And the biggest issue I have with all this is it only works one way. If you have an individual of any other race who assimilates into whiteness the way she has they aren't white and can never claim white. So now here is yet another avenue white people can skip down without reproach while the rest of us are pigeon holed to whatever they tell us.
have you ever been to spokane? most of the blacks that you would see in the city are athletes that attend gonzaga...very small population on the idaho border...seattle is a completely different story
She is blk and proud let het wear her hair frizzy afro, dashiki clothing and represent Mama Africa, lol,
