If that's how you define real Blackness, you've summed up in 13 words why the Black community in this country is so fucked.

A race(pun intended) to the bottom with the bros on the corner mapping the trip.:smt009

The thing is though, she didn't give up her actual 'privilege' as stated... at any time she can go back to being white. That's a privilege a black woman doesn't get, so it's not about that 'it's so bad to be black 'Why did people rip Sammy Sosa for going white, but can't her.

She could easily have aligned herself with the black community, saying she relates to them, she's there for them.
She essentially profited from being black... she go 2 cushi positions perpetuating to be black.

I knew a white man who was not able to become a police officer due to a minority consent decree in Philadelphia...he tried a second ttime by putting on his application that he was black and he was accepted. Reaal black people have to deal with the real issues of being black, but we see there are people who will take advantage of the compensation given to them to try to level the playing field.

If she's not emotionally disturbed, then she's having an identity crisis or just plain hoodwinking everyone.

That's one way to get around affirmative action

Well to be fair...she is a woman...but 'ain't nuthin like being a black woman in affirmative action. Dolezal knew.

That's crap if you think Dolezal started representing herself as Black because of affirmative action, as if skin color is the ONLY qualifier under AA.

Dolezal lived much of her adult life as a Black woman and represented herself as such.
That goes way beyond scamming admissions into a school.

BTW, how many Black folk even live in Washington state?? I doubt she took a spot from a deserving candidate.

She didn't get paid for that. The question is did she address the concerns of black people while she was in that position.

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, roughly 3.7% of Washington State is Black. Less than Alaska, Colorado and Arizona.

It may not be Idaho, but it's close.lol:smt069

I still don't believe this woman was perpetrating being Black for any real advantage.

    She was about that life.
Once she had Black babies it was a wrap.:smt036

So far the NAACP still supports her. We'll see how that goes.

    lot of truth here.

Show me an individual who has not lied & I will show u someone who walks on water

I hate to generalize but for most part the definition of a liar is-anyone who tells me has not told a single lie in their entire life, is a liar. Most human beings are far from perfect. We tell lie or color or shade the truth here and there…..

Did this lady lie? YES, Should she have been truthful about her identity from get go? Of course yes. But she has not harmed anyone. Yes she has lied about some incidents probably that never happened to get attention what not but I think her heart was in the right place. She has dedicated her life studying the blk experience in America, fighting for equality cause, trying to advance the civil right cause. Heck, she probably has done more positive things for the blk community than most blks in here including my blk ass.

I could be wrong here but from what I heard she has not benefited that much from being black, no scholarships, no perks, etc…. Last I checked, to be part of NAACP, you don’t have to be blk; I never knew that you got have certain skin pigmentation to qualify for membership. She is not the first non blk to be a member of a civil right activist group and she aint gonna be the last.
Why don’t we give her a chance to explain b4 we throw her under the bus. She stated her case is complex; it might be…..She probably always felt that she was black. She had adopted blk siblings, she went to college in Mississippi (I would not attend a school in that state even if you give me full ride scholarsip and a post graduation guarantee job, no offense to The Magnolia State folks), she attended Howard Univ for her graduate work (there are blks who has/had opportunity to attend HSBCU but that will chose other Univ over that in heart beat), isnt she married to BM & helping to raise her blk siblings? heck she has got more blk friends and goes to most blk fuction that some of my blk "pro blk" friends, lol...

There are ppl out there who would wish they were born different than who or what they are, she is not the first. Identify crisis runs deep. We all say live and live, why don’t we let her live, & give her a chance to explain. Shieeeet, we accepted kaitlyn choice and supported her cause not too long ago as she was gracing the Vanity fair cover but this lady has to be thrown under the high speed city bus?.

But I still say she should not have lied in the first place but now that she has, we have to evaluate and look deeper in to the situation before start throwing judgments. Whoever has not sin should cast the first stone.

My .02 cents, I know my view ain't gonna be popular, now y’al can bring the firing squad and hang me upside down on some tree.

    Peace

There's a reason why I put up Eastern Washington and Idaho. Very low Black population on that side of the state compared to the very diverse western side as well as a lot of Neo Nazi activity, mostly coming from...Idaho, the White Homeland of the West. But what do I know compared to a five year old census report. I just live here....
