With her work at the NAACP, she is doing more for black folks than a lot of us "real" black people are, so more power to her.

    Agreed.

    Carry on

You'd assume that...but twitter took offense to a ww doing more for black plight than they were...typing about bullshit on twitter all day n shit

With that said...the only issue here is that she lied for profit/self-advancement

Non-blacks have been helping in civil rights since forever, so she really didn't need to go balls-deep like this

How do she profit from this?

Some cities have minority clauses for contractors otherwise there would be no minority contracts awarded ect. That's the type of stuff I'm talking about.

So far her personal success seems to be independent of her "acting race"

that means you don't have an answer...

the naacp was founded by white people largely so its not unusual to have them as chapter heads a few are today. If she qualified for the job then theres no problem. Her choosing to identify as black seems like a personal issue rather than some professional misconduct.

In an interview she said she's Black not African American..I find that an interesting distinction..Black is a racial social construct designation while African american refers to heritage. I think in that regard she hinted at the truth. WHY she identifies as black is the big question IMO.

There's a Brian Williams meme dying to be made here.

Maybe she could teach Hanks son how it's done...just claim you're Black, son.
    Iggy, too.

She was also a professor at local Univ
She is the first successful transracial individual that did not require a surgery or a famous photographer she should grace the cover of Vanity, lol

Seriously twitter is hilarious...that's where I seen the Brian Williams meme claiming he is her black father/did his undergrad at Howard (hbcu), etc

And yes....when jenner hit the block, I predicted this liberal madness would hit other areas

Some are saying you can't compare the two, others are saying you can

In the realm of accepting people for who they are and supporting them, you most definitely can compare them

Spokane city is saying that she lied on an application about her race when applying for a position, and we all know race does play a factor when spaces are looking to add people of color for diversity

    This is the issue here

You hardly see any Black contractors getting contracts anywhere.

The "minorities" are usually illegal immigrants.

Melissa Harris Perry did a nice breakdown today about this story.

One of her more interesting arguments was why is this woman considered mentally disturbed for 'passing' as Black??

As if a White woman would have to be insane to give up her racial privilege and live her life as a Black woman.

Her work as the head of the Spokane NAACP suggests the woman is highly dedicated and very sane.

She's lived much of her life as a Black woman and caught hell for it.

Basically race in America is what you look like and can get away with, culture is something a little different.

It all seems like a David Chappelle sketch, but one of the national directors of the NAACP said Rachel Dolezal's race is irrelevant.

Dolezal isn't appropriating Black culture for financial or artistic gain.

She has chosen to be Black because it's the only classification that defines how she lives her life.

The deconstruction of race in America is always an interesting phenomenon.

Dolezal may be an unusual woman at face value, but I stand by the fact her heart is right.

The Black community in America historically has been the destination of last hope for the illicit offspring of White and Black couplings, it's strange to me we're now kicking a WW out of the club for 'passing' as Black when the opposite literally happens all the time.

IMO when a WW has biracial kids with a BM, she de facto becomes a 'Black mom', and by association I can understand how a woman in that situation starts seeing herself as Black.

When more non-blacks start checking 'African American' on applications and receive spots that would otherwise go to blacks....come back to me

This is like bruce jenner taking positions reserved for women

Pretending to be Black for professional gain and living your life as a Black person are two entirely different things.

People talk like this woman won some secret lottery because she claims to be Black.

If you live your life as a Black person, you can get hired in part for diversity, but understand there are colleagues who are going to assume you're still unqualified and some supervisors will be looking for an excuse to fire your ass if you slip.

What Ms. Dolezal is doing is so far beyond lying on an admissions application.

This story broke because told the media she was receiving DEATH THREATS as the head of the Spokane NAACP.

Doesn't get much Blacker than that.

    BTW Bruce Jenner is dead.

If Caitlin Jenner wants to apply for a job and hiring a diversified work force is a goal of the employer, her gender, transfemale, should definitely be a factor.

Being transgendered isn't dressing up in a wig and pantyhose on the weekends.

In Caitlin Jenner's mind, she was always a woman born in the wrong body.
She's not some dude who gets a sexual rush from trying on his wife's panties and lipstick.

I just don't get how anyone can question how serious Ms. Dolezal is about her race identity.

I know religion isn't the same a race, but to me it's not much different than White folk I see who go hardcore Islam and become Arabic in nearly every aspect of their lives, even marrying ME partners.

If there's a boot camp for being Black, Ms. Dolezal has been trained in the struggle as an adult like few others have, whether or not both their parents are biologically Black.
