SNOWBUNNY!!!

I agree with ya! Although I wouldn't be offended I'd cringe if called it, good point about the white sugar thing. I don't think I'd incorporate race into a pet name. I think it is a British thing, we def have different values from the US folks. Especially when it comes to religion I think. But yeah, totally agree with what ya said as usual :D

Thanx 4 the support Sarah, just rying to put my views across as a Brit really, maybe if we grew up in the states we would have a different approache
I dont know ! i know i dont like it either way and im not alone in these thoughts, all the brit girls i know who date IR arent into that either.

Over and out hun :p

well the overwhelming majority seems to be in favor...snowflake sounds kind of corny to me...that is more elementary/junior high school....now snowbunny, that is some grown folk and sexy...you say snowbunny and somebody is going to turn around and look

Whatever! come of it mate are you serious? arent you a doctor or something, are you trying to tell me if your wife, girlfriend, fuck buddy came into where you worked you'd call her snowbunny? or let her call you dark chocolate?
Thats respectful is it ? pet names are not just for the bedroom you know they get used everywhere!
I dont believe your serious, this was all to start us arguing i bet you saw the old threads reaction and thought you would have a try at stirring things up!!

Whoa there Britty who said anyone was ashamed of anything here!!!
Thats a very nice little list about your man, but i dont appreciate the inference of the shame thing!! going on here right now!

Maybe "shame" wasn't the right word. I just think some people go out of their way to not mention anything that might include their lover's race, and I think it's too extreme. JMO. I wasn't really referring to you so much, except with the "Surly" thing. Then just went on to talk about how I feel about others.

Id be interested as to how you could hide going out with a black man anyway even if you dont call him brown sugar?
Pretty hard to ignore my IR relationships as i look at my kids everyday as proof of it ?

I didn't mean "hide" going out with a black man like that. I meant, to rather ignore his race, than admitting it's there, when it is, and embracing it, because it's a part of him, just like anything else. Just like his surly face. ;)

My point is ive never called a white man my white sugar why on earth would i start calling a black man brown sugar?

I think some people like to make terms of endearment off of what makes their partner unique to them, as well as to others, and shouldn't be looked down upon for it. Like, my man also calls me "Pebbles" because the way I talk sometimes reminds him of "Pebbles" off of the Flintstones, because my voice can be really soft and sweet and a little mumbly :) Or like if my partner decided to call me "Blue eyes" because my eyes are blue. Or if he decided to call me "Shorty" because I'm short. Should other short people take offense to that? Should people who are tall think that's "inappropriate" and get all defensive or condemn him for it?

I feel the term snowbunny or snowflake is inappropriate, im not a 5yr old pageant child with gold ringlets, im defined by more than the colour of my skin i exspect my partner to see that NO DEMAND that !!

And I'm sure your man is defined by more than his surly face, but you still call him that, don't you? What's the difference, really?

I give my partner the same back as what i exspect to be given, End of Story!
You may have different values as does your partner , but you need to remember that we live in different parts of the world, ive certainly noticed a different attitude in the states on this board, but it doesnt make me wrong it means we value different things, as do our partners!!

:smt023

But on a final note im gonna ref a post made here a little while ago from (Leotiecat) her introduction was im looking for some of that sweet dark chocolate that wont affect my blood sugar!!
I looked at that post and i thought (what is this Boogie Nights) i cringed.
surely i was not the only one ?

Nope, you're not the only one, it made me cringe as well. But I look at it differently when it's between me and someone I love and have a close relationship with. And if he's cool with it, and I'm cool with it. That's us and I don't think we should be titled as "inappropriate" or like we're so obsessed with each other's race. We're neither obsessed, nor the opposite. I'm not a fan of either of the extremes. And that was my point.

If there is one thing this board has taught me, its that i would not get by daily if i tried to live in the states, but on this board i embrace our differences but thank god for mine, as im sure you do yours!! :smt006

But between you an me and everyone else i think this guy is prob a bit of a jester, MR Nice hmmmm i wonder

I think you are completely wrong with this one...and I think you are wrong for accusing me for starting an argument, especially since I posted this under the stereotypes/myth section as a question...and in actuality out of all the women that responded you are just about the only one that opposed...hell you cant please everyone, someone will always object to anything you proposed....you have people that want to be called afro-american and get pissed when you call them black...then u have ones that like to be called black and dislike afro-american...you have people that want to be called africans....you have some that just want to be called american...so personally if someone called me chocolate , caramel, pecan tan so what...and honestly that is quite silly to say I researched the topic to pose it...trust me if I really wanted to start an argument I can....

really you are making this more of a personal thing...you are sliding down a slippery slope...state your opinion and move on....and btw it is good to have a sense of humor

LoL, that "Who's Online" is a trip!! I feel like a stalker. "So and so" is replying to "So and so" thread. "So and so" is viewing "So and so" thread. "So and so" is viewing User Profile" etc etc :smt047

Its bloody useful though, cus then you can open another browser page keep that on miniature, seen quite a few people doing the same as me at the same time!!! seriously !

Finger on the pulse so to speak, ha ha, plus sometimes ive missed certain things b4 that and ive wanted to get in on whats going on, my new post click doesn't always give all new posts to me, dont know why, its weird? :o

snökanin! (in swedish)
I never heard the term, and sounds cute. But can't see the sexyness in using the word bunny.. its small fluffy and cuddly? Also it squeeks if you squeeze it too hard and bites you. Nah..

But I'm with the others on that I wouldn't use a pet name based on skincolor, if it isn't freckles possibly.

I'd probably go around in happy ignorance not knowing a derogatory term if it jumped up and bit me if I lived in the states... o___0

bunnies are master reproducers...so you know what that mean

The only people I've ever heard use "snowbunny/snowflake" were black guys and the ones I heard use it most likely wouldn't give a fuck who it offended...black, white,male,female,etc.....cause"....I wazit talkin' to you so you best stay outta my shit."

Minority privilege has its benfits.

One more thing, being too PC or overtly sensitve is a problem. As I said , you trying decide for someone else how they should feel or react to something and that's not right because inthe end you're taking away that person's right to think for themselves.
