An actor being gay has to take a backseat to the presentation of a bm/ww being presented as a couple or lovers in the first place. At least that is how I feel about the whole thing. I somewhat get the anxiety of a gay black actor possibly taking a role from a straight black actor. But I kind of feel about it the same way I do when ADOS fools complain about a non-American black winning out over African American actors. In the end I am happy to see black dudes getting roles, no matter their country of origin or their sexuality.

Yes, I do want there to be a large number of straight black men getting regular acting opportunities. But I am not going to get mad about Coleman Domingo. He is a great actor who has convincingly played heterosexual men on the screen before. And unlike Billy Porter , he doesn't have a grudge against straight black men nor does he come across as flaming gay as Porter. I listened to some podcast interviews of him during his promotion of Sing Sing. He really gets it. He has had strong and healthy relationships with straight black men who are his family members and that appears to have shaped him. There is not a single gay character in Sing Sing but he wanted to do the movie because he was just happy to do justice to incarcerated black men as well as present rare moments of onscreen brotherhood between straight black guys. He is directing b that Sammy Davis Kim Novak film. Can you imagine gay guys like Porter or Tyler Perry even caring about a story involving a straight black male in a romance with a straight black female? No, they are there only to serve the stories of black women or, in Porter's case, gay black dudes.

When it comes to chemistry a gay actor can have that with a straight actress. If that is your main concern if shouldn't be. If your hope was for a straight black male actor to hook up with a none lack straight actress whom he is romantically paired with onscreen, I'll be honest : these black actors today don't have the balls to cross that line anyway. Look, the state of the black male actor is in horrible shape right now. I predicted this outcome years ago btw, but this is not the thread to discuss it in. But I will say the presence of gay black men like Domingo or Justice Smith is the least of the problem.

His conviction and incredulous outrage in the hypocrisy of the Southern Baptist White slave masters was palpable and powerful in "Birth of a Nation" as he comforted his violated wife played by actress Gabrielle Union

I appreciate your reply, I like to state again that my question was not a judgment on the actor.

In my opinion it’s not a controversial question. A lot of people have a thing where the chemistry of the actors matters to them. my mother, for example, if she finds out that two actors who played love interest in a movie didn’t like each other in real life, It diminishes her interest in the movie or show.
