Update on this film. Sydney Sweeney is the producer of this film
    https://deadline.com/2024/11/colman...al-debut-sydney-sweeney-exclusive-1236189356/

She brought on Colman Domingo to direct and actually put herself in the role of Kim Novak. That is GREAT to hear that she is the driving force behind this film and thought of a Black Man to be the Director of this prominent IR Hollywood Romance Story. AND put herself in the role of the female in the IR. It gives Elizabeth Olsen vibes with what she did with Sorry For Your Loss.

Curious about this, I researched and discovered that an all-female gang known as the Forty Elephants/Thieves existed in England around the turn of the century.

Just found out about a film called "Ending Things", starring Anthony Mackie & Priyanka Chopra, that Amazon picked-up in 2022:

I think he has had straight relationships onscreen before. As long as he's not all silly about heterosexuality it should work. I doubt there will be sex scenes
about this couple and their legendary story. But their might be some kissing scenes.

Colman's sexuality goes under the radar with him because he presents himself as masculine. He is a
rare gay guy that isn't effeminate.
So has been some of his character portrayals. Even the ones that has been gay.

Agreed. He played Victor Strand as a masculine and menacing gay male during the zombie apocalypse.

WTF? Did you expect the two actors to end up falling in love off screen as well? They are acting. He can play a straight male just fine.

Listen it takes something away for me if it don't for you that's fine different opinions. I know it's acting but at the same time it takes away some authenticity if that makes sense. To be clear I don't have a problem with him being gay, but it makes it harder for me to buy him as a heterosexual in a romance. I would prefer an actual heterosexual actor in a role like that.

Intertextuality is a thing - actors bring their public personas and previous roles to their projects. Him being openly gay, given the history of feminizing/marginalizing Black men in film, is noteworthy. Many (liberal) pro-LGBTQ established Black actors refuse to accept gay roles for that very reason. It’s a difficult conversation, but it’s a conversation worth having. Domingo is having a moment right now—he’s versatile, compelling and charming. Production companies are casting him because his public appeal is high.

I noticed you downvoted my post as well. I'm curious is it asking the question that you have an issue with? It felt like a legitimate question to ask, after all there are several posts about the onscreen/offscreen chemistry between other actors on this board (michael b. jordan and hailee steinfeld as an example) and there is a whole topic thread about "Not Together But Looking Good" neither @Jeffrey Tripp or myself made any judgments about the actor, so what's wrong with being honest and asking the question?
