How valuable are degrees. If everyone has one, they lose value in the work-force. At some point, education (must) becomes elective and specialized and unfortunately, yes expensive.

 

Where does everyone have one in the first place?

What point are you making? Doctors and nurses regularly go on strikes in Germany to get some salary increase and support negotiations of their labour union.

 

No European country produces as many high school graduates as the US. As far as “must” become expensive, that depends on how the system is set up.
Edit: I made a mistake, I meant college graduates, not high school graduates.

 

Well let's say on par with High School Diplomas. The point of free college is so all can go if they want to go and it's free.
If a degree provides a better income, like high school does, and a degree is free, logic states most will take the degree. But if most every one has a degree, it loses value...should a doctorate and masters degree be free, also then? Sure, why not.

Free college doesn’t mean there are no academic requirement. It also doesn’t mean spaces are unlimited. It means that those who do fulfill academic requirements aren’t excluded because they can’t afford it.

 

Read the article. Its not about their wages, it's budget cuts, and being overworked. They're burned out.

So what’s the consequence?
Either they pump more money into health care, or they make it more efficient or they increase insurance contributions. Doesn’t mean you have to throw away the whole thing just because it needs some improvement.

 

Nope. You don't offer education for free then say, "sorry, no vacancy." They don't turn high schoolers away, they just build more schools.
Free education means free. If a person can't meet requirements, you must provide - for - free, assistance to enable the student to receive a free college education. It's no different than high school. "Education is a right", something like that. Or is it "free education is a right"...

Socialism only describes an economic structure. The only reason it comes up in politics is because the government has a role in the economy to set policy.

Political and economic systems aren't the same.

 

France's free healthcare system is considered the Gold Standard of (free) care around the world.
The population of France is 66 million. We are 340 million and growing.
We here must also have private options. But Bernie said 'no' and that we must accept Govt care or nothing. He actually said that, Madeline.

 

Education is a right but where you receive your education is up to your own ability. If you get into vocational school, you go there for free. If you get into university, you go there for free (or a small affordable fee), if you get into polytechnic, likewise. If you didn’t get into university, blame yourself. Simple.

2. France is no gold standard of free healthcare at all.

 

Ahh girl, you don't know liberal America. If it's free and an entitled belief, EVERY ONE gets a college education. Do not argue nonsense.
Schools will be forced to lower the standards, provide specialized entrances for the disadvantaged or remove the entrance requirements all together. Every one gets in. Or else.

In Europe students gain access to college based on their educational attainment.
Financially, at third level, their education is highly subsidised.
Their living expenses too.
We are willing to pay taxes to subsidise these public services.

 

Yes, the health care system is overloaded, as more and more people are presenting at hospitals. And there is a shortage of hospital staff. I think in many European countries.
Cuba does not have this problem !

 

But Europeans are not Americans. We come with a whole subset of emotional demands as well. If you don't please everyone here, NO ONE gets pleased. Especially when the Government is involved.

If the people of your country are happy with that then I'm happy for them. They actually know how it works.

A vocal minority in the US wants the same but they have no idea how it works. See the difference?
