My daughter turned 18 today, holy cow time flies. People seem to think it's supposed to make me feel old, but honestly I feel younger now than I did in my thirties. It's really encouraging to watch your children grow into amazing adults... my kids give me hope for the future, and they make me laugh every single day. It may be her birthday, but she's always been my best gift.

Aww, well thank you for that GG! Oddly no shoes among the gifts, it was mostly a jewelry day for her. I also arranged to have some professional photos taken of her last week as part of her birthday, she's such a girlie girl I knew she'd love it, and it was actually a lot of fun to watch. There were of course new shoes and clothes involved in that, so I guess it wasn't a totally shoe-free b-day after all. :D

You are so sweet...I know your children are great. It's really encouraging to hear people talk about their kids, family, etc. like you do. I could go on...but I'll just say happy birthday lil' Espy.

Thanks TC, she really is an amazing woman, and I would think that even if I were not her mother. If I accomplish nothing of note in this world other than bringing my kids into it, I'm okay with that, that really is my greatest accomplishment and nothing will ever top it.

I'm wanting to run a situation that I'm in past you all to see what you think. One of my best friends birthday is next week. One of our mutual friends texted me earlier this week and asked if I wanted to go in with her on her gift. I told her that was a wonderful idea and that it would help me out a lot. She texted me today to tell me that she got her gift. I told her thanks and asked her how much I owed. She told me that I owed $45 which was fine. Then, she said that another distant friend wanted to go in too and that the bracelet she bought was from that friend and me, which was still fine. I'm thinking that we bought a $90 bracelet. Then, she tells me that this other friend only wanted to spend $15 for her birthday.

I was upset by this. How do you go in on a gift with someone, and it not be in equal amounts? Am I being petty about this, or do I have a reason to be upset?

    You / $45
    Friend 1 / $30
    Friend 2 / $15

So you are paying half and the other two and splitting the other half?? Correct? Why isn't friend 1 paying more. She is taking in the $15 and lessening her half with it?? I think something is funny here. Hate to be petty but.
