I have a research paper that's due in less than a week, and then I'll be doing that. And thanks, I hope I can do it.

I wish I could pull that off in a few short months, but that's highly unlikely. I'm just going to make a plan and start moving toward it as quickly as possible.

 

I don't have a doubt in my mind.

 

I just had a pang of sorrow reading this. Not for any specific reason, but I had one of those NPM will say something comforting and witty moments, then realised that he won't.

I have been thinking about this for a few days...I realize that you have a goal in mind to be a screenwriter...which I think is great...getting from where you are now to where you want to be is the challenge....if you are truly unhappy where you are right now then I would suggest you make an interim change to at least get in a better frame of mind...you have to ask yourself, why am I staying at this job? is it because of the salary? benefits? if so, see if you can find another job with similar salary/benefits to at least give you a fresh start...writing has become a fine art and there are lots of different types of writing jobs...If you have the support of your family then this could be easier than you think especially if making a change gives you a new perspective on life...it may just put you on the right path to making those goals...I know it's scary and change can be paralyzing but being unhappy is like being on a hamster wheel that you can't get off of...2014 just might be your year

So I was on another forum this morning and this guy was bitching n moaning about how in order to be successful in life with women and jobs, you have to be an asshole because being nice gets you no where.

Anyway this was my response.

This nice guy vs asshole theory is so fucking tired. Nice guys are well respected and get laid on the regular, I'm proof of that. The so called "nice guys" you speak of have no spine which is why they get trampled over. Do shit out of the kindness of your heart expecting nothing in return and life will treat you grand. See you guys problem is y'all do nice shit hoping to get something out of it.

Just this morning at a hotel a woman was leaving she was pushing a baby in stroller in one hand while towing along this huge luggage suit case in the other. She walks up to a bellman who's at the bellstand but he's in street clothing. She asks do you work here? This asshole replied "I'm off the clock..... but you can stop at the front desk for help" pointing to an empty from desk. He walks off a lil bit and finally asks regrettably "what you need help with" Even tho I had things to do myself I just cut in "I can help you" eagerly. She says "I just need help with my bag and an escort to the garage" I tell her it ain't no problem and grab her bag. She immediately thumbs through an wad of cash and hands me a $20 bill in front of the bellmen to spite him lol. I tried to decline the money but she wasn't taking no for an answer.

 

You're so right, North. People who treat others with kindness should feel really good about themselves. That, in itself, is a reward. Good people usually will receive goodness back in their lives. I hope you're proud of yourself. I'd kiss you if I could. :freehug:

 

I appreciate the good guys, but it's a conditioning thing... I'm used to jerks, so when a good guy comes along, I just don't feel him like that.

I'm used to guys that put a woman second, because of their goals... or just because they do. So when a guy tries to put me first, I kinda feel like asking them if they have anything better to do lol. Even if they're just as ambitious and driven as the ones that put women second.

Because then him being free to text/ hang out makes it seem like he doesn't have different things to do. His flexibility would make me feel that I come first... when I'm not used to guys like that. Then, to me it feels clingy. Even if he's not being clingy and is just putting me first.

And because of the "I don't care, what do YOU want?" attitude. I'm used to guys that put their interests first, or at least have suggestions, instead of it being completely up to me. So then I feel like I'm trampling upon him, that he'd accept anything I want to do, even if it's not what he wants.

It's a mindset I'm trying to change, because I know GOOD guys exist and want one for myself... but it's my fault for going for the guys I do.

 

I truly hope you do change your mindset. Its all about self respect. I am fortunate to have some really great men in my life. I hope you can EXPECT a man to treat you great and respect him for that at the same time.

 

yep and a hockey team...soccer team...bet you didn't know we have a football team...ever heard of the broncos?

 

I do expect it from a man but when I get it it's all "nooooo, this don't feel right" lol.

Then I find other faults about him and think, "well, if it doesn't feel right, it isn't right". That I respect myself enough to not get involved with something like that. When it's the "something" I should be after.

That's just me, wanting everything and nothing at the same time

 

I don't like to categorize/evaluate "nice guy" versus "bad boy"...sometimes it's hard to tell and entirely how they are with you...if a guy is too quick to try and convince me he is a nice guy or toots his own horn then that can be quite telling that he isn't what he says he is...I've heard many times that all it takes is the right nice girl to tame a bad boy...

don't beat yourself up nikkers...just remember that talk is cheap...actions are KEY

 

That's what has kept me in trouble for the past year, wasn't sure which to listen to... till I decided to stop listening to both. If someone can't match their words and actions, something's off

I agree with someone tooting their own horn. If they have to say so, why can't they just show it?

Shit been bothering me so much that I been letting loose on folks. Funny as hell seeing folks expressions like when I hold a door open and they don't say thank you I yell "YOUR WELCOME YOU INCONSIDERATE FUCK!!!!" *keeps it moving* lol

Those women always end up losing in the dating game.
