Well I've never really used pick up lines..simply because I could never remember how they go. And I felt a bit too shy to ever use one cause I would catch myself laughing at them before I ever fully got them out. But I do have a story as to how I met my Emily.

We were both in college. And we had this massive physics final in like 4 days .We had a study group me, her, and about 4 other people. So we're in the library studying away. I mean we are up on "student cocktails" which if you've never had one in college is coffee, ephedrine, and mountain dew mixed together. Talk about being wired?

So it's getting late about 3 in the morning. Everyone else done either left, or completely crashed out on the couches. It's just me and her now. And we had been friends for a good while...bout 8 months. And I have feelings for her, but being shy I'm not saying nothing. Strictly, incognegro on this one. So I'm like I'm about to go back the dorm crash, I'm getting tired. She's like wait wait wait...I'm having trouble with infinite time calculations...(great turn on ain't it, just something sexy about woman and her quantum mechanics)....so I stay for a bit. Well this bit, turned out to be 4 more hours. It's now Sat morning. She's thanking me for staying helping her out...and I say well I'm hungry I'm half dead but...I need breakfast.

We decide to go to IHOP since it's right across campus. And somehow we got on the subject of relationships, love, and trust, and all that stuff. And it kinda slips out that I would love to have a girl like her. First, she doesn't say anything..which I'm thinking I'm now sitting here naked. She's caught my rouse. Then her response was, "Well, why go after a girl like me?." She pauses...and then goes "When you can be with me?"....Your one of the smartest, nicest, kindest men on campus men I know. She begins to tell me that she's been wanting to ask me out for a long time too..but wasn't sure because I never showed any type of I guess interest in her like that...I told her I was too shy to ask before.

She thought it was sweet, and there was making out after that...and been together ever since.

That's just my little story.

That's a good approach, the guy that doesn't come out with some overplayed dumb pick up line is more likely to get my attention.

Funny you mention that. I was daydreaming and accidentally stared directly into the eyes of this one girl in class once. She was easily a 8 or 9/10. Normally she would've or should've just looked away or lreacted with disgust/fear due to the prolonged stare from a complete stranger but instead she stared back at my eyes as I was probably still daydreaming about what Ii was going to do later that day. When I finally came through, I "awoke" to a beautiful girl staring at me with a slight smile. The whole thing was surreal and all I did was look away after I realized that I was inadvertantly flirting with her. I never did anything about this but I vividly remember the "connection" that we had for all of 20 or so seconds. I should've said something to her now that I think about it but I was stuck on this other girl I was dating on and off at the time. Now that I've been out of school and single, I never get any similar situations. :(

True stealth game. This is how my man nabbed me. We saw each other around campus and at the odd bar or party.

Yeah, it did take about 6 months. or more. Truth be told we both had our own closures to make during that time, anyway. He told me once in the beginning, i don't care if it takes me years but I'll get you.

He's been making me happy ever since and we survived transition out of college to the real world too.

So i told him that it was international celibacy day, so I couldn't.
That shut him up..

But besides that, two guys that I know slightly, came up and did the whole "i like you, you are so sweet, can I see you again"-shit. I know they are just looking for sex, and I'm not, so I had to say no (in a polite way) to both of them and run for cover. I mean, I'm really REALLY sick and tired of guys going all "oh, i like you, you are sweet and nice, lets make babies" when they don't know me.

It's better to come up and strike up a normal convo..
Check if there is any common ground. I really apprieciate a man who tries to get to know me for real, instead of making guesstimations of my personality after looking at me. ...

yes. that's my experience too. those who r like "aw u r so cute", "u r so sweet, gimme ur number" at the right beginning r usually DiRTY BASTARDS! Probably it's not always like that but in my experience it is.
