As we get closer to the start of month FIVE of mandatory mask wearing here in Illinois, I'd love to know what their end game is in all of this.

Like my brother said: we're never going to see phase 5 at this point.

I'm all doom and gloom about this, but I doubt we'll ever get to phase 5 and never have to wear a mask again.

I was kind of behind the mask thing when it started May 1st. But, as the months dragged on with no end in sight, I don't see how this isn't political anymore. We gave the politicians an inch and now they're taking a mile.

I'm new to this thread. @Bliss , is the complaint that no one should have to wear a mask or socially distance because it doesn't help? Or is it that no one should have to wear a mask or socially distance because they just don't want to wear a mask or socially distance?

I legit wanna understand your position and the reasoning for it. School me!

    A bit of both..
I think we've given up way too much liberty, way of life, freedoms and income for this virus.

This here pretty much sums up how l feel ATM...

I don't believe the flash outbreak stories anymore. I think the mainstream media is exaggerating or inflating the counts to influence the election.

I got tested (required for a doc appointment) and it was the most horrific experience of my life!!, lol. I almost cried like a baby. That shit HURTS!! And the pain STAYS with you!

The 1st daily quick test got FDA approved yesterday:

    EDIT:

Politco just put out an article that the Trump Administration is immediately jumping on these new $5 tests from Abbott immediately:

LOL, that's bullshit. Last time I checked Mexico was having their own issues with the Pandemic, so much so that illegals are crossing the border to get healthcare in the U.S. which is a factor why these border states been having spikes in cases this Summer.

Now that I think of it, I think that the Meme was made back in the 2008 recession and just didn't age well. Anyway this country is better off overall than Mexico which isn't saying much because we have 1st world money and suck ass compared to first World countries.

The partisanship and religious nutbags have ruined the quality of life and made America look stupid. It's in a class of it's own now. I would call it second world. First world money without the quality of life of a first world country. Just a bunch of drama with people that's too ignorant and emotionally fractured to be fully functional and enjoy the wealth and economic might of the country.

So yeah US >>>> Mexico brag on that because if you compare it to any country of comparable wealth it sucks ass.

I'm not believing them either. And it really became clear to me when about 3 weeks before school started, all we heard were outbreaks among children and teachers.

And now there are outbreaks among college students.

How coincidental is that? You don't hear about the young people until right before they're supposed to start school.

My daughter's school district had a great hybrid plan. Then about a week before their school started, the teacher's union forced them to go all online.

And their endgame with this is what?? I saw this on Facebook and I posted it, of course no one commented, though one person like it, but it perfectly sums up my feelings on this pandemic:

"Is there someone out there who can tell me what our end game is with the Rona?
What is the magic formula that is going to allow us to sound the all clear? Is it zero cases? The only way that will happen is if we just stop testing and stop reporting.
Is it a vaccine[IMG]? It took 25 years for a chicken pox vaccine to be developed. The smallpox inoculation was discovered in 1776 the last known natural case was in 1977. We have a flu vaccine that is only 40 to 60% effective and less than half of the US population chooses to get one, and roughly 20,000 Americans still die of the flu or flu complications. Oh, you'll mandate it, like other vaccines are mandated in order to attend school, travel to some foreign countries, etc. We already have a growing number of anti vaxxers refusing proven, tested, well known vaccines that have been administered for decades but aren’t necessarily safe! Do you really think people will flock to get a fast tracked, quickly tested vaccine, whose long term side effects and overall efficiency are anyone's best guess? How long are we going to cancel and postpone and reconsider?
You aren't doing in person school until second quarter? What if October's numbers are the same as August's?
You moved football to spring? What if next March is worse than this one was?
When do we decide quality of life outweighs the risks?
I understand Covid can be deadly or very dangerous for SOME people, so is shellfish, peanut butter and bee stings. We take risks multiple times a day without a second thought.
We know driving a car can be dangerous, we don't leave it in the garage. We know the dangers of smoking, drinking and eating fried foods, we do it anyway. We speed, we don't buckle our seatbelts, we take more than directed and quite a few of us don't think twice about unprotected whoopie, we just hop right in (or on.)
Is hugging Grandma really more dangerous than rush hour on the freeway? Is going to the bar with friends after work more risky than 4 day old gas station sushi? Or operating a chainsaw? When and how did we so quickly lose our free will?
Is there a waiver somewhere I can sign that says, "I understand the risks, but I choose a life with Hugs and Smiles, and the State Fair and Concerts and Homecoming."
[IMG] I understand that there is a minuscule possibility I could die, but I will most likely end up feeling like crap for a few days.
[IMG] I understand I could possibly pass it to someone else, if I'm not careful, but I can pass any virus onto someone else.
I'm starting to ramble and I apologize, but I'm struggling to see where or how this ends. We get busy living or we get busy dying.
When God decides it's your time, you don't get any mulligans, so I guess I would rather spend my time enjoying it and living in the moment and not worrying about what ifs and maybes, and I bet I'm not the only one."

Thanks for the reply. I'll say I agree with two out of three of those lol. I guess we disagree on mask wearing. Not so much on a "right to wear or not" level. I just think of it as being considerate of those who might get sick, a tiny sacrifice to make.

But I definitely agree that this, like everything else, has been politicized to all our detriment. Got a question tho. Do you think Trump has done a good job of handling the virus since January? Thanks for your constructive responses!

When the Oxford vaccine gets here I'll consider only if it's approved by the MHRA. Can't trust the FDA while Donny is president. He really needs to be voted out. We don't need air headed politicians politicizing medicine.

Damn did I just say that?

If you think this is a first world country, I strongly disagree. No one should ever have to say what I just said.
