I'm sorry how many people have died through rick grimes' leadership.Grimes was never smart enough to build a wall. That wasn't luck that was smart. Luck is wandering through a place full of zombies and making it. Rick has been incredibly lucky.
There is a reason why he wants to take that place. They see what smart people did and want to take over.
