Yes it was a good movie. It took various elements from the whole Godzilla mythos that has evolved over the decades to give us this refreshing take on the character. People on the net who are expressing disappointment with the movie all seem to be individuals who are fans of the 90's/early 00's Godzilla movies & expected it to be a total monster destruction rampage & slugfest throughout the movie.

There was a report release prior to the movie being released stating that whatever scenes he filmed for the movie ended up being cut. Whether or not the scenes remain for the Japanese release version of the film is anyone's guess.

 

So of course no surprise, it looks like the new Wally West will somehow gain super speed powers.

 

No kidding? In what role? I wish I had known to look for him!

Ooops. Well, that puts that hope to rest, lol. Ra, you're right about the movie. It pulled some themes from the earliest films and then made the underlying science a bit more consistent.

Alright, now for the $1,000,000 question: has anyone seen 'Days of Future Past' yet?

 

It might be on DVD... in Japan. I will see it today and give my observations on the film.

 

Yes. Another good summer flick for the nerd crowd. Marvel Studios better have the version of Quicksilver that's in the Avengers meet or exceed how his powers were displayed & utilized in this movie. The brief segment that he played in was the shit.

 

That's dope. I'm psyched to see it now. I'm shooting for Sunday afternoon.

 

Don't like the outfit. But, I am glad we're getting some color in the upper tiers of superherodom'. Purist are gonna flip their lids, though. ...lol

 

Shit, the character has only appeared in one issue for a few panels so far & already there are some dumbasses stating how much they hate the character. At least there are some comic fans calling out that shit telling those type of fans to give the writer/writers a chance to develop the character first & foremost. Fools basically had the same ignorant attitude towards both Miles Morales & Jackson Hyde/Kaldur/Aqualad when they first hit. Now both are big comic fan favorite characters. SMH.

Minor add on. Just learned that there is about a minute long after end credits scene hinting at the next reported X-movie, so I guess stay for that since my son & I didn't.

 

This costume reminds me a little bit of Black Vulcan's costume on The Super Friends show when they introduced him in 1978. He wore a black unitard with gold lightning bolts down the neckline and gold boots. When he flew he would yell out his name, "BLACK VULCAN!" He would transform into an oval of electric light. The costume then changed to blue and gold and wore a leotard-like wrestler's tights. Looking back, at Black Vulcan, he was the first in a line of diverse characters in the Super Friends. He would be followed by Apache Chief, Samurai and El Dorado.

 

I had seen Godzilla. My verdict: 10 Stars. This production was top-notch. The story was on point, the visuals were better than I expected, Alexandre Desplat's score was very effective and well-paced. The acting performances were very good(especially Ken Watanabe's performance as Dr. Serizawa from the dark, tragic hero from the first film, which also combined the character of Dr. Yamane, also of the first film). It had a lot of surprises in this film and elements of the following Godzilla films; Godzilla/Gojira, Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah(or Destroyer) Godzilla Vs. Megaguiras. Other films would include The Birds, Gamera 2:Advent Of Legion, and Cloverfield. This Godzilla was portrayed as colossal and clumsy. Horrific and heroic. He is back to being a guardian of humanity as he was in the 1960's and 1970's. As a life-long fan, I am very proud of Gareth Edwards for his direction of this film. Roland Emmerich's film is just a distant memory(it had its moments and it would have been a better film if it was not named Godzilla).

Actor Charlie Cox best known for roles in the movie Stardust & the HBO series Boardwalk Empire has been pick for the role of Marvel/Netflix Daredevil.





Actor John Wesley Shipp, who played Barry Allen/Flash in the early 90's TV series has been cast to play Henry Allen, the father of Barry Allen, in the CW's upcoming Flash series.

 

Oh crap, you guys missed it? Those epilogues are a Marvel staple.

 

Great casting for the Flash's dad, someone who knows the character.
The CW did that with Smallville. Matha Kent was played by Superman 3's Lana Lang

I wondered what happened to John Wesley Shipp. I recall he did a stint on a the soap One Life To Live. I had heard a tabloid rumor that he was gay. Ahhh, the 90's. It will be good to have him on this show.

Smallville had many actors from the Superman movies like Christopher Reeve, Marc McClure, Terence Stamp, and even Margot Kidder and Helen Slater(Supergirl). If they had actors Gene Hackman,Valerie Perrine, Ned Beatty and Shane Rimmer(who was in almost all of them during the Christopher Reeve era and was the voice of Brains in The Thunderbirds show and was in The Spy Who Loved Me as an American sub commander) it would almost complete.

 

Charlie Cox would make a good Matt Murdock. He has a sympathetic look about him. Ben Affleck was good, but he came across to me as a little cocky.
