afaik the klingons were modeled after the Mongols (proud warriors, always looking to conquer and never failing)..although it's common to think that they were the niggas in outer space because they liked to fight and were just ghetto as shit

    lol

one episode had Sisko travel back in time to earth circa 1950s, and he encountered plenty of racism from whites and stuff like that. it was very different than the future, where humans finally see each other as members of one race, among a galaxy full of 'real' races. that was what i was referring to. having a black lead like that tho definitely gave us someone to relate with

from the moment he went back in time, i was like 'awwwwwwwww shit he's gunna get it'

he wrote a short story about a black captain and his white superiors at the publishing firm he worked with when he went back in time were like 'stay in your place, boy'

I never really saw the Klingons as being "Niggas In Space". Really liked the honor and warrior pride of the characters, even with them being loud and fight prone.

admit it...the first thing that came to mind when you seen Klingons in The Next Generation/DS9 was NWA or Detroit

LOL. The Ferenghis were often viewed as comedic villains. But, they were thieves and scavengers. But one did not turn their back on them.

Naw. Now if they would have reconned the whole Klingon race and had them dark skinned, then "yes", I would said they were trying for some space aged take in some way. But overall I saw them as just a warrior race and saw bits borrowed from various warrior cultures.

only a true trekkie would pick up on that, considering the 1st cardassian war, occupation of bajor followed by the rebel uprising and future independence

They'll probably stay up. Word is Cartoon Network has pulled the same stupid move that Disney XD did with the Avengers cartoon and will not make a third season of the show, instead opting to bring the Teen Titans series they had on a few years ago back with all new episodes. Same as what went down with the Avengers cartoon, a lot of mofos who are fan of this show are pissed. Especially since they took that long unexplained break with this show and are now putting out all these episodes that should have already aired.

Yeah! I was pissed when I heard. I just don't understand why they would alienate so many loyal viewers. New Teen Titans? Who wants that crap?

Excellent post. I would say I agree for the most part, but I would also add Iceland, Finland or the Netherlands for Vulcans.

I don't get it either. I thought the success of TV shows depended on ratings? Both The Avengers and Young Justice from what I have read on various other sites have/had solid ratings compared to other show that are still on the air with no where near solid ratings or a fan base. Same thing happened on Cartoon Network with the new Thundercats series. It had solid ratings and decent fan support from fans of the original series and fans of anime in general because of the design style, but they decided not to do another season. That was the reason for them throwing it on the late night Toonami block in an attempt to appease the fans who were pissed over their decision on that show.

Yoda saved that movie. I mean, look at the face he makes before he and Count Dooku engage in their light saber battle. Yoda didn't play.
