I honestly don't think we are as obsessed with guns as foreigners are obsessed with our supposed obsession with them.

You do have a point. Outside of television, film, and passing a cop on the street I can count the times I've been in the presence of actual guns on my fingers, with a few fingers left over.

I bet it was in Arkansas.

They sensationalize the worst of a countries characteristics. If I hadn't talked to you and other Aussies like whiks, curley and such I might believe all the crap posted on here about the racist stuff in AUS. I believe a small part of the population are like that there but no way do I believe Aussies practice that as a standard way of thinking.

The media takes the stupid, bottom of the barrel stereotypes and sensationalizes them. Think Austin Powers and all Brits have bad teeth. The Brits here all seem to have pretty good chiclets. :smt043

I have only seen one gun in my whole life. Someone else held it across a room and I said get it out of here. If you came here and asked me to help you buy a gun I am not sure where to tell you to go. When you visited here did you see one person brandishing a gun. If guns and crime are so rampant then the odds say you should have seen one. So if you believe then you must believe since I am American I should be obsessed. Sowry..........I hate guns. I hate super sharp knives too. :smt080

Hmmmm, I wonder how shall we start this lovely sexcapades? I think, given your experience in life, no mortal technique will suffice. Instead...methinks the darkness shall engrave your soul!

I have a strong love for Epic music. For anyone who's not aware of what it means...it's basically orchestrated music used for scenes generally revolving around a massive conflict.

I don't know why, but I LOVE this kind of music to death!

Hmmm, perhaps the hollowed bonds have yet to be severed. I do, however, feel as though I may perish in my own sweat before morning...

    uh - cet Texas.
When I lived in Houston, I can not tell yo how many I know who carried concealed weapons - men and women (there are so many handbags specifically designed for that).
I also knew quite a few who had sawed off shot guns both in homes and under their seats in their car (or truck lol).
And these were just normal people, not white trash or ghetto people.
Just normal people. OH how they value their guns in Tx.
To be honest, I did go to the shooting range myself and owned a 9mm - until I moved.
    so....oooppppss:)

Actually, I'm liberal in some of my positions on the issues and conservative in other issues.

    I consider myself independent. :smt023

I thought I'd tickle your fancy with some sweet Celtic music.

Thank you! Celtic music is close to my heart - I think it's genetic. My dad's family as far as I know was pretty much English. My mother's side, I have the genealogy going way back. Norman ancestors who settled along the Herefordshire/Wales border, with a lot of marriage back and forth, so I've quite a bit of Welsh in me, along with a bit of Scots. Celtic music reminds me a lot of Celtic knotwork.

I have a strong pull to the UK, Wales and Scotland in particular. If I were healthier and money was no object I'd probably end up in Cardiff. Or a cottage along the sea somewhere.

I owned one too, my late German wife bought it.

I still contend that the American so-called 'obsession' with guns has been highly sensationalized. They are much more accessible to us, sure... but that in itself does not equal an obsession. Cardboard is accessible to us and plenty of people do own it but I'd hardly say they're 'obsessed' with it.

    Agreed.

    The media over-sensationalizes everything.

I watched a documentary about a month ago on packaging. How things are overpackaged and how many millions of injuries there are from people trying to use knives and other tools to get things open. It even told the history of bubble wrap. The guy was trying to use two shower curtains put together to make textured wallpaper and instead made bubble wrap. You wait til that documentary gets seen outside the US. Our cardboard and packaging craziness will be known worldwide. :p

I saw this video this morning and was so inspired and then quickly go turned off after reading the first comment. What is it going to take for us to grow up? Damn

Depends on where you are getting your news from. If you listened to NPR usually (88.9 FM) you would probably think differently.
