A Black gay man is editor-at-large for Vogue magazine, that's Fucking Vogue magazine, the most important fashion magazine in Fashion... and look at here you got some Black women complaining about a White female fashion editor at Essence. These Black women must think there are some real enigma or shit; that no one but a Black woman can do that job  sistahs take another L on this one and keep exposing their insecurity, which unfortunately the major media is playing upon. Ocho Cinco being the prime example of a man who has kids by Black women, and yet he supposed to some hater of Black women; these women are being played on their insecurities.
Unfortunately, they seem to be picking the WRONG ones to represent that. Oh, I think I missed the point of them doing that...Attractive BW don't have to worry about validation.
The problem with that is the majority of blacks see the mainstream as "acting white" and glorify ghetto behavior as real blackness, or "keeping it real." Those blacks who do participate in the mainstream are labeled "sellouts." The blacks who feel this way are incapable of participating in the mainstream (due to lack of education, narrow vision, etc.), so they dog it. Your point about blacks as leads in TV shows has been talked about for decades. There have been black leads in dramas before, but nobody watched them, and this was in the 70s and 80s before cable, internet, etc when networks dominated. White shows get cancelled all the time I'm sure it's nothing personal when a black show can't get traction. And of course we all know when somebody tries to do something black with substance, blacks tune out in droves. That's the dirty little secret. Only when it's some coonin', hoopin' and hollerin' shit do blacks en masse pay attention. Curious to see how "Undercovers" does, maybe America is finally ready?
fine example is when taye diggs had a show that was about him being an atty and being a player. well black women had been protesting that he had too many light skinned women and no or not enough dark skinned women...then soon his show was gone. that fool went on BET and pretty much begged BF to watch his show and he will put darker women on the show. Im sure the real reason they had a shit fit was because he was married or dating a ww. they just didnt want to come out and say it. They show had a majority black cast in good positions AND IT WAS WELL WRITTEN AND WELL ACTED. THE GAME has nothing but light skinned women and a IR couple but BW arent complaining....but when diggs had his show then it was a problem. That is also because a bw is the producer of game so they are not gonna throw her under the bus like they did diggs. lastly , the game is a half ass show anyway compared to what diggs had. so BW cant deal with his caliber of thinking unless it was bashing men or bafoonery like tyler perry ( the only thing I like about perry is that he hustled like hell for his shit but that is where we part)
Funny thing is, watching TV I see more black people in commercials than ever. The hottest guy right now is the Old Spice guy so that says something. There's also mainstream BM/WW commercials/ads. But the down side is: keep an eye on these payday loan commercials, they are targeted towards black and brown people.
I saw some shit where an old white guy was dressed like deon sanders when he was with the falcons. the mustard suit and hat to match...doing payday loans. Im like how in the hell...... if you have to use title and payday loans as a financial institution then Im opneing up shop and ask for the suckas. dont forget the rent-a-furniture-to-a-sucka store
I'm so sick of bullshit like this. Maybe all those black women employed at white publications should be fired or not employed. I'm sick of this damned reverse racism and the double standard that comes with it. When I open my own business I will hire whomever I damn well please.
YES , well stated. People should hire people for the ability to help them make them(the business owner) money. PERIOD
oh no he didnt on the real tho, if people want to see us in more mags, they also need to be open to seeing someone that's not black, on the cover of essence or working for it, fo'sho. there are white people that are just as concerned about issues within the black community, as 'aware' (just because ya black dont mean u care about the cause) black people are. Why not show a black man with his white wife on the cover of Essence, that are doing good things and setting good examples for people, period?
because they dont want to offend the bw reader. they dont care about whats right they care about that dollar..( sounds like Im talking about the church)
I stopped going to church when they let that dude Creflo 'DOLLAR' get his own TV show u mean to tell me DOLLAR is your surname at birth? yeah...im with stupid<-----
exactly. Those fools are still all up in the church drinking the kool aide. I just read the bible for meself
