It's true man. Regardless of political reasons and paranoid conspiracy theories, our troops are in the wars because they were given a noble cause, and they rose up to that challenge, especially the ones who went in right after 9/11. They should be treated better after they get out and paid more while they serve. It's either us or them.

Several sterotypes are based on facts.
When we think of stereotyping in america it always has a negative implication attach to it, that is where the problem comes.

I was taught by an accompolished sociologist that stating positive or neutral facts not really sterotyping.

Saying Chen is a commom chinese last name
Nguyen is a common Vietnamese last name
    Bekele common ethiopian name
Kojo common Ghanian names..... it is not really degrading anyone, it is just pointing out the facts.

yes...you hit it on the head. I didnt see the movie and I have heard that it wasnt even worth it. also a guy who owns a african american bookstore and there is a dvd dogging out hollywood talking about the underlining messages that are detrimental to blackfolks ....I would go as far as to say kicking blackmen down the black hole and raping black women's mind and self respect and turning them against black men

    let me say it again

if TYRESE can be an ACTOR

    :p

besides, it's not the difficulty of acting that stops people from doing it...

it's the marketability and potential for popularity

these guys arent pretty or handsome for nothing...with the exception of Precious

I feel you, pretty people have a very favorable advantage in TV/film.

Even still, that shit is mad hard to take on different characters that are believable.

Yea because you have to be a good lier to make it. lmao This is one of the reason why I said Ronald Reagan would be a great politician. He already had practice at lyin... I mean acting. lol

    One question (A loaded one):

If the 'offending party' in question (i.e. the White female hired for the periodical) were from, say, Zimbabwe, Zambia, or South Africa...or even Algeria or Morrocco...and had emigrated Stateside for said position...

...would she not be considered *truly* African-American...and therefore appropriate for the position?

:smt012I didn't read the whole post or the story, so please forgive me if I'm off-base. However, based on the title of the thread, this is some BULLSHIT!

I swear, black folk piss me off sometimes. We complain about the same double-standards, prejudice, and bias that we often employ ourselves and act like its ok. It's so fucking embarrassing.

Sometimes I wish we could start a whole new media outlet called 'MOCHAWORLD'...a land where mixed families/couples can operate as if the realities of this world do not exist.

As a matter of fact, someone should start a thread like that. What would MOCHAWORLD look and function like? (I know this sounds corny, but I'm serious)

    off base?

    nuc you off the field!

    :D

    jk

you're on point with your hit tho..it's pretty dumb when you think about it

why push for more representation of us in the media and flip the script when it comes back to us...

for what it's worth, if we were the majority in this country, we would be no better. Look at the shit we're doing now. Tell me im lyin.' We vilify white people yet do the same shit to them, that's done to us. That is not Dr King's dream of unity at all. That's some two wrongs make a right bullshit.
