UGH! Why does the US has so many ignorant people. It was yesterday, 4th of July and my older sister came down from LA to eat. ( I live in San Diego.)
Anyway my sister wanted to watch twilight but her boyfriend didn't want to go with her, and so me being the nice little brother I am, decided to go with. She's always been watching action movies with me so I thought I should return the favor. So we are at the movies, getting some snacks and I told her I'd pay for her. She told me want she want and I order, so the guy at the register is like, "So is you and your date paying separate or together." I was like WTF? I Said "Dude, she's my big sister." And for some strange reason this like rattle him, he dropped my debit card, you could literally see the "Does not compute" error written on his forehead. True, she's blond hair, blue eyes, while I have black hair and dead sexy carmel/milk chocolate skin. But I'm sure people heard of adoption before, or at least watched the blind side.

But anyway, I was hoping he was just going to slide my card and give us our food. But no, he wanted to pursue this further. So he says. "How, how does that work?" Now even though my sister is older than me, we have been very connected like twins almost, and so I could just feel the vibes that she was going slap the taste out of his mouth. I look at her arms and they were tensed, her fist like clutching every few seconds. I knew I had to distract the situation quick or this dude was going to end up with a bruise on his face. So I said "Well I came out white, but the doctor sprayed chocolate on me to confuse my family." It fortunately diffuse the situation as my sister calmed down, now hopefully this was going to give the dude a chance to just get us our food and let us go see this female driven movie. But did it happen? No. He laughs, but ask "heh, but seriously, how are you guys related?"

That was it, my sister lost it. She yells" None of your damn business! Now give us our food!" Startled, and I guess finally getting the hint, he rushes to get our food. I just laugh, and tell her that I'm so glad she's down. When we get out food, my nice guy personality kicked in cause I could see he looked like sad and embarrass. So I grab the food and tell him I'm adopted. The light bulb click inside his head and he says thanks and we go see this movie.

But good god, was it really that necessary. Just to make the automatic assumption alone was bad enough, but than he had to pry? I don't know it just bugged me.

I don't think he should have pried like that, but some people are just like that even though it's not their business. And I think adoption might be one of those things that if it's not a part of someone's life, it's not something they think of right away and it takes a little extra for the light bulb to click,. For example, if it was me (not that I would have pried like that at all), and you told me she is your big sister I probably would have just thought "related by marriage" like step-silbings before adoption

my baby girl is sick yet again :(

she had gone with the school for a fun day out but they had to cut it short for all the kids when madam decided to go and deteriorate rapidly on them

why am i pumping her full of strong antibiotics when shes still going down with tonsilitis every 3 - 4 weeks?

shes cleary had a choking session as well, shes burst all the blood vessels round her eyes, they had the cheek to ask if she choked at home and i sent her in anyway dispite the fact the taletale marks wernt seen till after lunch, they appear in 10 - 30 mins after the choke

:smt056 Aww Robina sorry to hear that she's ill again. I hope she's on the mend soon. If she's having tonsillitis that often maybe it's one of those cases where she just never truly gets it completely cleared up and so it represents as soon as the antibiotics are stopped? I suppose a tonsillectomy is out of the question given her medical condition? I hope you get something figured out that gives her some relief, poor baby, it's no fun to be ill so frequently.

the strong antibiotics dont stop espy, shes on those long term now, she gets an extra type added in when she has an active infection :(

they told me they dont do tonsilectomys these days, they want her in for a sleep study to see if they are the cause of her sleep apnea and if so they "might" think about removal

just sucks the poor kid has to fight to breath every time as they dont go down now so when they get infected they start to block, she develops stridor and cannot swallow even water but they wont take that into consideration as she has a peg tube in situ that i can flush water thru so she wont get dehydrated

Wow I can't believe they don't do them anymore there. I had chronic tonsillitis as a kid because my mother refused to have them removed, she was anti-surgery. I was allergic to most antibiotics and after taking the few I wasn't allergic to trying to treat the tonsillitis, they either stopped working or I became allergic to them. I finally had two different doctors tell me that mine were just harboring the bacteria and I would just keep getting tonsillitis until they were removed. I had them removed when I was 23, and haven't had tonsillitis once since. My daughter started developing the same recurrent infections when she was 9 and we had them taken out the following year. She hasn't so much as had a sore throat since. That was only 8 years ago, so I would think they're still doing them, but perhaps they don't want to risk it unless they present an obstruction to her breathing. However her being on round the clock antibiotics isn't good either, she'll eventually become immune to those. I think if you're lucky the sleep study will show she needs them out, because I think that'll take care of the tonsillitis. It's terrible that she's sick like this when there's something that could be done.

I can kinda see adoption not being the first choice on people's list if I tell people that she's my sister. That's not the problem of course. The issue was the lack of acceptance, or what appeared to be anyway, of family and kinship between two individuals just because of their race. If she was black, I'm certain the individual
would have just accepted my case on face value, but because we are of
different "race", people just can't seem to comprehend it. It slightly bothers me, but I'm more passive aggressive, it's my sister that would people have
to worry about. She has slapped quite a few men and women who couldn't
seem to understand the case so that's why I wanted to get her away
from the cashier. Otherwise, further pestering would definitely leave
a nice bruise on his face lol.

My back is killing me. The last two days at work, I had to help with taking apart huge crates (we had 15 to do) and then today, I spent the majority of the day unpacking most of the rest of my boxes. My daughter has way too many toys.

    :smt081

I'm wiped out. But I feel like baking, so I think I'm going to try my hand at baking banana bread. I've never done that before.

Since I have had to move my stuff out of all of the rooms and back for the workers to tile the floor, you suddenly notice how much junk you have. lol

LOL! I know! It's all spread out when you have it put away in your room or whatever, but then you have to pack it and move and suddenly the junk triples in size! LOL.

That sounds like a fabulous plan Tarshi!

That's what I'm trying to do now...downsize all my crap!!
