i agree, that wasn't impressive. no lines, and the flow wasn't even tight, just fast. (and not even fast in comparison to bone or twista) besides, it's 2010... why are white dudes still cryin about gettin no respect on the mic? are you serious? if you get no respect on a mic now a days, it's cause nobody likes to listen to you. period.
Especially now. I am convinced that Eminem was just a rare thing because in over ten years no body else made it past one album. Not saying white dudes can't rap but.....
jay-z can rap. so let me just get that out of the way before i continue. he is a legitimate rapper. but... personally i don't think he is amazing. he has some cuts i can vibe with but overall i dont see him as this supreme artist that a ton of other people do. why do people like jay-z?... because they think they are supposed to. he's major crossover, is big time business, and ran the radio/clubs for many years. so it's "hip" to be a jigga fan. anyone who likes him can easily like 10 other rappers. but most non-rap fans just don't bother to look deeper into the genre.

Commercially he's got people beat with the exception of Eminem Rappers better than Jay-Z: Nas, Rakim, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Lupe Fiasco(he's on his comeup), Pharaoh Monch, and many more
Commercially he's better than Em. Em never has the clubs bumping the way Jay does and while I like the rappers you mentioned they're very one dimensional and completely out of touch. They do speak truth but sometimes id rather forget about my problem. If I can't sing a long from time to time.
This dude is quickly becoming one of my favorite newer rappers. First heard him on Immortal Technique's "Peruvian Cocaine", and he stood out the most. Here's a rapper that raps fast, but he was content. He was the fastest rapper in the world at one time, but luckily you can understand what he's saying for the most part. He was alright. Like andrea said, fast flow, no content. He threw some similes in their, but they weren't that clever(Represent the west like Eazy, Crazy muthaphuka, like Tech N9ne), and there were no metaphors I could pick up on. Maybe a few multis, but I was looking more for clever punchlines than multisyllabic rhymes.
Thats not his Em's style. believe me if he wanted to club music he would. But thats the beauty of Em, he doesn't need to do club hits. He did that track with Akon "Smack that" but he doesn't have to go on people's songs also. You ever notice Eminem rarely did collaborations for released commercial singles. The man can SELL records with ease and not have to go the sellout route. Jay-Z acknowledged it when he said, "The only dudes moving units are Em, Pimp Juice(Nelly), and us. Unfortunately thats how many people feel about the real rappers. My boy told me I don't like Mos Def. All he talks about are people's troubles loll. I just want to get away from that, I have my own shit lol
HA!!! I was just about to bring up that "Smack That" track. I swear, when I first heard that track, I said I was done with Em, forever, but here I am crawling back for the Recovery album, which had no club tracks(Neither did Relapse, thank god).
1. Em sells a lot of units more because he's white more so than anything else. Don't get me wrong he's in my top five deal or alive but his commercial success more to do with his skin tone. He even said if he were black he would have sold half. 2. Your boy is right. This isn't the 80s or early 90s we have so many media outlets that put us on to what's happening in the world.
