    interesting

grad school in general does place heavy debt, but ur right..wharton, tepper, et al run HUGE debt lol

plus they only increase the likelihood of you getting a excellent gig...not guarantee it

and yeah i can see apps rising higher and higher....the figures i keep seeing for top-tier b school grad salaries are very tempting

For you to get that salary you have to be essentially the top 3 to 5 percent of your class and already have some type of business experience under your belt and a lot of those top grads take time off of work and just do school like I'm trying to do but that shit is tough unless you already come from money.

    basically

kinda like that saying 'born on third base'

and yeah..that's the catch...some of the distance programs at Tepper require 3 years of relevant work experience, for acceptance into their Masters programs. It's like wtf, im not getting any younger.

however..i'm sure that if you have 3 years work experience period and surpass the other requirements, they'd (or some other schools) make an exception

Truthfully I can't see you doing business I think you'd hate it fam. Personally I hate it myself but that's why I want to do strictly numbers. Part of the reason why I am exploring actuarial science again. I want to make good money I just don't want to have to ruin lives to do it and essential that's what business management is. Finding the best ways to save money for the company with the least cost. Usually that means firing people and finding cheaper work. Its an insanely sad industry.

    well yeah

i dont see this as you trying to discourage me or anything, because i know what you're saying is true

that's part of the reason why i loath going into management, even if some (seriously delusional) people think i would make a good leader. It's not enough to be smart, but you have to kinda be callous and ruthless if you want your company to survive. i dont see myself as that kind of person

Thats going to take a long time. Plus high management positions are filled with ivy leagues and brown nosers. Usually people that come from money or have connections. You should look into acquiring/starting businesses.

case in point....one of our former department administrators got promoted to an assistant executive spot and is a Wharton grad, after being the department admin for like 2-3 years. I think she's in her 30s too.:smt119

wharton puts a lot on their students and makes them earn what they get, so you kinda expect the fast-track for them post-grad.

I might just get an MA in anything just to have the name on a resume. 30 credits and 50k extra debt don't sound bad if it makes me more marketable for a 150k a year job. Still exploring my foreign options though.

    debt is debt

either you go into debt with the sense of knowing you gave yourself a step up in the world, or you stay out of debt with a lesser degree and less options.

what's an extra 200-300 dollars a month for 10...15 years compared to the satisfaction of knowing you did what many people wished they could do

if you got the brains and savvy to get into a top school, i'd say go for it. All of my loans aren't paid off from way back yonder, but I never..ever regret going to college

i gladly pay that 100 dollars a month when im not in deferment.

You should look into Norway. They charge $50 to $100 per semester to international students.
