Dark Horse Comics and Mattel have announced Masters of the Universe: Genesis, a 12-issue series exploring Eternian history. Launching August 5, 2026, the debut issue kicks off by reimagining the origin of Skeletor.

The first three-issue arc reimagines Skeletor as a power-hungry demon mage on a quest to seize Castle Grayskull, conquer Eternia, and claim the title of Master of the Universe.

Skeletor, the blue-skinned sorcerer and primary nemesis of He-Man, seeks ultimate power by conquering Castle Grayskull. Originally a mysterious interdimensional demon, modern lore often defines him as Keldor, King Randor’s estranged half-brother. His skeletal transformation usually results from a magical accident or a dark pact with his mentor, Hordak, following a failed coup.
