Thanks for shedding light on that, Gorath. I had noticed it but never really thought about it.

Yeah, there's a lot of that kind of thing going down in Hollywood. Tim Burton & Christopher Nolan can be added to that list.

However the point I was getting at was in the case of directors wanting to work with actors/actresses they admire & haven't worked with on any projects & when they get an opportunity to work with any of the actors/actresses they admire & they seem to cast them in a film role without any regard for whether or not the actors/actresses are right for a role when there are clearly other actors/actresses who would be a far better & more accurate fit. For example what if Mel Gibson would have cast all white actors he admires & always wanted to work with in Apocalypto rather than casting individuals of Latin American/Native American descent in the roles for that particular film.

Clint Eastwood sometimes worked with the same actors in his films, like Albert Popwell and Mara Corday. Mel Gibson strived for realism in his movies. He looks at every detail. I had not seen The Passion Of The Christ, yet. But he had all the actors speak Aramaic(I guess that is how it is spelled) the language spoken at that time. For Apocalypto, he used the ancient Mayan language. If that film was cast only with white actors, it would not have as much legitimacy with historians, the people he was trying to portray or the viewers. He was going to do a film about a Jewish tribe called the Macabees. But, he and screenwriter Joe Eszterhaas had a severe blowout in Mexico where the screenplay was being written. The project was scrapped and Eszterhaas never worked with Gibson again.

Yeah, but Mel cast a white Jesus just as they'd always done. Until whites start getting upset over that, I don't care how many blacks get cast in white roles. Fuck'em. Give me a black Superman, Batman and James Bond. And while you're at it, toss in an Asian Green Hornet with his white sidekick/manservant Kato.

Until they hire Middle Eastern and Eastern African actors for biblical roles, I don't want to hear ish. Biblical stories look like the Royal Shakespearean at dress rehearsal. They should have hired Said Taghmaoui or Alexander Siddiq to play Jesus.

Yes. Since this new TMNT was announced & William Fichtner was revealed as being cast as villain Eric Sachs in this movie the speculation automatically became that he was going to be this movie's version of The Shredder, but a very small but significant part seen in the latest trailer seems to suggest otherwise.

It doesn't help that the IMDB entry for the movie has Fichter listed in the cast credits as The Shredder, which is mainly how all the assumptions & rumors got started in the first place.

Mel, as you know, is a conservative Catholic whose views came from his father who followed that doctrine fiercely. Aaron MacGruder is working on a new show called Black Jesus. I don't know if it will be animated or live-action. We'll see...

Alexander Siddig would make a perfect Jesus. Or the guy who was in the first two Mummy movies(I forgot his name). He would be good, too. And Peter could be played by actor Tamer Hassan.

Oded Fehr. Tamer Hassan would be great as well.

Oded Fehr. That's the guy's name. He did a show called Splinter Cell(I think) in which he is a terrorist mastermind who gathers a diverse group to launch an attack in the U.S.. Michael Ealy played a Muslim-American agent sent to infiltrate the cell.

Yeah, I heard about it. But, I think it will be an animated comedy. However, I could be mistaken.

I just hope that Black Jesus does not look and act like Thugnificent.

I wished Michael Ealy's character reunited with that woman and her child at the end after foiling the attack.

Yeah, me too. That was the show's genius - no easy dramatic payoffs. Remember his station chief who got her throat slashed in Egypt?

I missed that one. I saw the middle portions on DVD from the library.
