My Thoughts on the Attraction

In Tam's defense, I do think there's a difference between posting photos that depict an idealized physical ideal and actually having that be the basis of an attraction. I think everyone is attracted to perfectly sculpted bodies, but there is a certain element of fetishization that lies behind contemporary sexual views. Mainstream culture often serves to foster this as well. As a black male, I don't believe that there are any more of us that conform to the Mandingo physical ideal than are present as a percentage of the males of other ethnic/racial groups. But for whatever peculiar reason (racism/stereotypes, in my opinion) we tend to get branded as a group with these views. I feel that anyone is free to desire anyone for whatever reason they do, even it it's the "Big Black Buck" thing driving the attraction, but I think it's impossible to ignore the impact such historical and contemporary social thinking has on the beholder.

 

Ya I get what you're saying but again, learn how to take a compliment just because black guys are seen to have superior physical and sexual qualities doesn't mean it's just that but that iiis the basis of sexual attraction, let's get real, just like you probably like hot girls. Maybe you want more with them, but most men would prefer a hot girl to one who is not hot... why is what I'm talking about "fetishizing" anything?

And it's not just stereotypes made up by the media, the stereotypes are there for a reason. Black domination of the NBA and NFL has to do with numbers and performance, black men just perform better and have beaten the competition it's not just stereotypes. all the finalists and semifinalists even in the last few olympics for sprint running have been men from West Africa or of West African descent. The physical athletic superiority of black guys is there on display...trust me it's there on college campuses, in sports teams...and us girls find it hot. White guys find it scary...and it's having a real impact on their ability to compete for the "hot" girls more and more...I don't know if you even know what hooking up looks like but at my college it's what im saying ,,,now not all black guys are like this, but overall they rule the sportsfields because they're just better athletes, whether they come from the US or Jamaica or Africa and for the same reason they are beginning more and more to rule the bedrooms if there is less racism and white women are becoming more open minded!

 

Thanks for the commentary. I don't believe any of that is scientifically grounded, just anecdotal. And it's logical that women would find these guys athletic. Because they're...athletes. If women congregated around a group of hyper-virile white male athletes, I think they would find the same to be true: that they are macho, hyper-physical and exhibit alpha-type behavior. Not because of their race, but because they're...athletes. I do not believe that black men have any sort of biological superiority whatsoever. Ethnic groups tend to dominate the sports they play the most, and people are socialized to play the sports that members of their ethnic cohort play (because people are essentially tribal in nature). So, because of racial segregation and stratification in this country, blacks are concentrated in certain sports and whites generally in others. Further, as African-Americans, blacks in general or Latinos begin to play certain sports, whites (driven by relatively closed racial groups) move on to other sports as groups tend to not mix in society.

 

You do know we are not all like that, right? Yes, what you said about BM are very stereotypical and cliche. I can't speak for every other black male, but I can speak for myself. I'm hardly any of those things you listed above. Hell, pretty far from it. I'm not atheltic, I don't play much sports, I don't have a dominant "Alpha Male" personality, and I'm not a thug. I don't make any attempts to act or dress like one. And if I do get into a fight with a white guy(or any guy for that matter)most likely I'll get my ass kicked......hard. I try to avoid confrontation and fights. And truth be told, I couldn't bag a girl to save my life. I doubt I could please them romantically and sexually anway. What I'm saying is we are all different. I don't think you should put us all in a box.

 

I don't even believe it's the norm. Most average people are just that...average.

 

OK haha so im sorry if I offended any of you guys im just studying biology, evolutionary biology and sociobiology in my classes and I guess i wanted to apply this stuff to a pattern im seeing, I tried to say not all black guys are like that but I think the science is there to support superior black performance in certain athletic sports.

I'm sorry but it is scientifically grounded, such as proven higher testosterone levels, more fast-twitch muscles, and superior ability in sprinting...come on...EVERYONE in the world runs. But black men have dominated sprinting so much that not only all finalists but even all semi- and quarter-finalists at the olympics in sprinting have been black guys, and blacks hold ALL the records. Latinos don't do that well in the NBA, NFL, whites didn't move on they were driven out because they just don't have the same physical qualities as the top black guys do.

and ure right most people are average but it's a statistical distribution and im just talking about the top end here, there's a reason black men have taken over sports and popular culture everywhere and it's not because of stereotypes...and that's what's driving the sexual "revolution" going on now, the fact that so many white girls are turned on primally by displays of masculinity

I'm just trying to tell you that we are all different and that you shouldn't us all in a box. What if you meet a black dude that isn't like any like what you listed?

I remember reading somewhere that black guys DO have more testosterone than white guys. This could help with becoming more muscular, or even an edge in sports but it still depends on the individual man.

Maybe your thread title should have specified the pattern you're seeing on your college campus, not "the attraction" per se.

 

I hear over and over about these "scientific" studies, but have yet to see one peer-reviewed journal of scientific research that establishes this universally to be true without a doubt. This sounds mysteriously like Jimmy the Greek authored some of this stuff. As for running, sprinting is one type of running, distance running is another. They each require different types of muscle groups and certain people choose certain running styles. Maybe black (US and western world) men excel in sprinting because it's a component of most sports that blacks play in the US in particular (baseball, football wide receivers, basketball). There are many gifted black, Arab, white, Latin and Asian distance runners. Why? Here's my wholly unscientific anecdotal opinion: distance running-intensive sports are much more evenly distributed around the globe (read: soccer, marathons).

As for what turns on white girls these days, judging from my observations, it appears to be introspective white guys in Chuck Taylor-model Converse, overly tight jeans and child-sized shirts with disheveled hairdos. They tend to generally do better with these sexually aroused white women than do the numerous 50-Cent look-alikes you might find around. LOL

I have yet to see this superior physical specimen argument proved beyond a doubt as a racial (as opposed to individual) attribute. But the day it is universally accepted as scientific fact (and I'll wait for my black, PhD-carrying, Monsanto biology researcher best friend to inform me), I will be among the first to get in line for my allotment of sexually aroused white women who apparently quiver in desire at the thought of my blackness, lol.
