They use those terms to insight fear and panic. Those groups make it seem as if giving marriage rights to homosexuals somehow takes away the marriage rights of heterosexuals.

Same-sex marriages in Sweden are officially recognized in the country starting from May 1, 2009, following the adoption of a new, gender-neutral law on marriage by the Swedish parliament on April 1, 2009,[1] making Sweden the seventh country in the world to open marriage to same sex couples nationwide. Existing registered partnerships will remain in force, and can be converted to a marriage if the parties so desire, either through a written application or through a formal ceremony. New registered partnerships will no longer be able to be entered into, and instead all same sex couples will have to be married.

Registered partnership in Sweden was introduced in 1995. In August 2006, a parliamentary committee described the civil union law as outdated and recommended that the government allow full same-sex marriage. In January 2007, the committee recommended allowing same-sex marriage, with the caveat that individual officials of religious institutions holding a license to perform legally binding marriages should be exempt from performing such marriages if they are against it. In March 2007, the Lutheran Church of Sweden announced that it approves of same-sex marriage.[2] The Church already performs blessings of civil unions. However, the Church will not use the term äktenskap ("marriage") as it believes this word should be reserved for marriage between a man and a woman. A government report published later in March 2007, written by former Chancellor of Justice Hans Regner, proposed that marriage be extended to same-sex couples.

In the Swedish parliament there is an overwhelming majority for legalising same-sex marriages. Only one party of seven says no to legalising same-sex marriages.
The HIV transmission rates are one of the lowest in teh world but we also have had free syringes to IV drug users for a very long time.

Sorry for keep bringing up Sweden but it is the only other country other than USA I know anything substatial about:smt024
I dont think its a good comparison though as its small (9 million people), with socialized democracy that has hindered poverty (at cost of crazy filthy rich people, they move to other countries:) and made sure that health care is immediately implemented and give as long as needed at no cost to the patient, that helps a lot.

... with marriage ceremonies being the racket that it is, heck, why not have it accessible to everyone.. think about all the niche industries and inflated costs connected to it-- smug wedding planners, tuxedo/dress shops, caterers/bakeries, florists, event halls, bands/DJ services, photographers/video... hell, even personal trainers are being hired.. why deny gay folk the chance to have themselves driven batty by all of this carrying on for what's usually barely a 20 minute ceremony..

I predict that Ms. Prejean will eventually get sick of being promoted as Sarah Palin Jr. and get on the reality show bandwagon..
