I'm referring to the fact that Ford has basically exposed himself as fake Democrat recently. The guy is about as legitimately liberal as Joe Lieberman is these days. His old district in Tennessee (or rather his father's old district) is pretty solidly blue, so they would have reelected the guy in perpetuity if he hadn't run for the Senate whether he married a white woman or not. I just think (hope) that Ford and the other "centrist" Dems will become more and more obsolete.

Sorry, man, but the only way Democrats (especially a black Democrat) wins elections in that part of the South is when they are more right-leaning. Democrats have to prove themselves down there more than Republicans do.
Not to defend Rethugliklans or anything, but that works both ways. In California or Rhode Island, a Republican too would have to "prove himself" and identify himself with a few left-leaning positions in order to win an election. Of course, i agree with you that Dems have to prove themselves there because white Southerners see the Democratic Party as the nigger loving party.
Ford came close to beating the odds (and lets not forget the odds were against him when he started his campaign) because his views were similiar to most of the people who live in that state (Memphis not included!). Thatt being said his chances of getting elected for anything down there now is almost zero. Hell, he'd have a tough time winning in california! Because even if a majority of white voters in Cali ignored the woman he chose to marry, you can sure bet most black voters wouldn't.
You honestly think that even in purpotedly liberal California, his marriage to a white woman will be overlooked? Well maybe within the Northern California region.

Also he would be in the same wagon as Obama, "Is he black enough?"
In most cases, conservative Republican blacks who are elected to congressional office are done by majority white voters and have no loyalty to their own race. The problem comes when they run for senate, govenatoral or presidental office that are looked over with a microscope and have to go in African-American communities and are shud away because of their past policies.
Examples: Ken Blackwell of Ohio who ran for governor and Michael Steel of Maryland who ran for senator.
The days of black folks voting only for someone with who look like them ended with Alan Keyes they vote for someone who has their best interests.

I believe i talked about this in length in a previous post of mine but you've pretty much said it all. Oh and by the way, how many black conservative Republicans (apart from J.C. Watts) have been elected to Congress? I'm waiting to hear them.
Those fools don't seem to realize that they're being taken for a fool when they align themselves with white conservative racists. They truly believe the Republican Party is the party of equality and same rights (seriously, they do) but it seems to me that they haven't taken a good hard look inside their camp.
Of course they will always lose big races like Governor or Senator because like it or not, without the black vote, black Republican candidates cannot win. White conservative Republicans never vote for blacks regardless of party and as for blacks, their hatred of conservatives is open and blatant. Why they still insist on rubbing shoulders with the modern day White Citizens' Council remains a mystery to me.
I mean, you have dudes like Vernon Robinson of North Carolina, Kenneth Blackwell of Ohio and numerous black conservative slaves like Thomas Sowell, Mychal Massie, Jesse Lee Peterson, Larry Elder, Walter Williams and many more. Seriously, how do these guys wake up every morning and look themselves in the mirrors? Every single one of them virtually make a living bashing black people, especially poor blacks. And they actually believe they are doing blacks an honor. I'm not kidding, they do. They've said time and time again that if blacks heed the conservative "message", we'll be better off. C'mon. You know a person is truly a slave when he's willing to disenfranchise his own people for personal gain, as did Blackwell. And what did he even gain? Yes, 39% of the vote. Guess those good ol' boys forgot to vote for you, huh, kunta?
Seriously, i have to stop talking about them dudes because they make it angrier every day, I'd really love to get a chance to speak up close to one of them and give them a good ass whooping on behalf of the whole black community. Good luck to them and their "ambitions", but if they believe pandering to far right extremists is the way forward (which it is, to some extent), they have a lot of work to do.
