Before I can receive anything or give anything to anyone else I must give it to myself first.
To receive love I must love myself first then give it away freely.
To receive wealth I must give myself things of value and share them with others
To receive truth I must be honest with myself and then with others

 

reminds me of a world war two program I was watching, where someone was baffled by the fact that the US during the time, was one of the most industrialized nations with a leading economy, yet produced armored units which were inferior to their German counterparts (m4 vs pVIe for example during the North Africa campaign)

it's like with all this wealth and power, we're still half-assed jacklegs

No its because we're a young country which also happens to be a melting pot so there's no sense of true national pride. Germany was an all Germanic nation where as this country at the time was filled with first and second generation immigrants not to mention all the descendants of former slaves that looked completely opposite so as a result we don't share a true national pride. Just a land of individuals just trying to get there share of the American pie.

Don't settle for average, bring your best to the moment. Then whether it falls or succeeds, at least you know you gave all you had. We need to live the best that's in us.
