    I am in awe of individuals like these, who were able to survive under such oppressive conditions and times.

    They could serve as an inspiration to the present generation. Situation was far worse then but they survived.

    reading this brings back memories of learning about the Tuskegee Airmen in high school. I remember being most struck by the fact that on top of fighting a war they had to fight against prejudice at the same time. i am personally grateful for them because their fight played a part in breaking down racial barriers and helped enable me to live the life I live today :) thank you Lt. Col. Hardy and rest in peace.

    Yes,them and the other Black servicemen and women who served in WWII.
