You missed the point of my post.

The movie has nothing to do with guns or gun control. It has everything to do with recognizing mental illness and doing something about it (or not) before something horrible happens.

Guns are not the issue. They're not.

The issue is getting people with histories of mental illness the help they need to get better. Most of these tragedies happen because a person with "a history of mental illness" does them.

Anyway, whenever something like this happens, guns become the enemy. Let's blame the guns. Guns are easy to blame. Let's not blame the cutting of programs that would actually help these people. You can't see that, can you? But guns. You can see guns. You can hold a gun in your hand. They are physical objects that can be blamed for everything that's wrong with the world.

I'm sick of it. I'm done with this thread.

If the guns weren't there the mentally ill wouldn't be able to get their hands on them when they went off.

Laws and regulation must have some effect. ^^^^^

Well Jordan, this may not be exactly what you are looking for, but I have talked about the coyote problem we have where I live, we have lost entire coops of chickens and our pony was stalked by a team of three of them before I made it out to the pasture with my rifle. Last week brought things to a whole new level as for the first time in our neighborhood, a wildcat and her mate killed our next door neighbor's dog and were not noticed until they were only about 30 yards from their kids. I can still hear the mom's scream for help , i got there in time to see them running off but I was VERY glad to have my rifle on me. Animal control was called and three days later both were trapped and relocated. As humans continue to encroach more into wildlife's habitat, such encounters will be more common.

But there's no money to be made in spending money to advocate for the care of the mentally ill. But the NRA lobby is one of the largest, if not the largest, in Washington.

Innocent children and adults have died this year because of not addressing the laws on the books or tighten laws where they may be lax. And they died last year. And they will die next year. And they year after that.

But bomb the world trade center(money) and no one can walk through a metal detector with shoes on at the airport.

see, there's where a gun is needed. farmers here in australia also have guns if they need them, but there are strict laws about locking the guns up in one spot and the ammunition under lock and key in another.

this is the form that you must fill in to apply for a gun licence in the state that i live in
    www.police.vic.gov.au/retrievemedia.asp?media_id=70952

is it similar to what you have to fill in?

Laws regulate ladders and hair dryers big time here why not guns.

Loki you didn't need the gun then. We have a coyote in my neighborhood that roams at night in the colder months. I have seen it up close about 10 feet way as it roams for food and garbage. The gov agency here I called suggests yelling, arms waving, throw rocks and pepper spray. Not guns. Never did I think of buying a gun to kill it. I am not part of the gun first mentality. If you live in their enviroment you have to put up with the animals.

Depends on the state Tarsh, but yes a lot of the same information is collected.

That's a really good question, actually.

Don't you remember that time that one guy used a hair dryer to kill 5 year olds en masse?

    No? I don't either.

I agree for the most part, I do all of the non-lethal tactics you mention first when dealing with wildlife, we have a pair of nesting Harris hawks that are the scourge of all of the cat and small dog owners in our neighborhood. The hawks are protected by state law and can't be touched, so we all just deal with it. That being said, you never know when a wild animal may be sick, or starved to the point where they will attack a human, good to have protection then, those wildcats were not looking to "play" with the neighbors kids.

I wonder how people would feel about guns if their loved ones are attacked?
I also dont get this mentality of show me a scenario where ypu needed a gun before owning one nonsense. Like with most insurance policies better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
If an individual doesnt want a gun dont own one end of story. Until you have proof that me as an individual will cause harm with one beat it
