The 2020 presidential election is SO serious. I hope most people know. If my mom lost her federal pension, she'd be almost homeless. Get this fuckhead out of office.
Definitely the most crucial election of our lifetime. Even more so than getting a black man elected for the 1st time ever. I never thought we would get to this point after what we felt in November of 2008.
It totally is. So many people in positions like your Mom. She's completed her worklife and should be enjoying her retirement, but these racist mofos trying to pull the rug from under her and many others under the guise of "socialism", "personal responsibility". Agreed. In 2008 it would've been another case of the desired candidate losing, but now there's so much more at stake. It's so obvious that this time we truly need to be rescued from one idiot who surrounds himself with a huge bunch of enabling yes-people.
I am at risk of losing all my medical and dental heath coverage if Trump wins, that I got through the ACA. I am very scared, if this happens, and then I get covid, I would not be able to go to a doctor, I am also a caretaker of older family, and it would be a disaster if we all got sick. No one is going to tell me about personal responsibility, it is not my fault heath care and the cost of living in general is so high, I and others like me deserve access to health care no matter our positions and income level, not just the rich glamorous and famous, or corporate workers. This feels so serious for me, I am literally shaking with emotion now as I type this.
I've been doing campaign work on the ground in West Central Florida for the last couple of weeks, and on the eve of the elections, I honestly cannot call it. Surveys seem to indicate that Biden has it in the bag, but surveys were wrong in 2016. I have read that survey methodology has been updated since then, but I've learned to only trust the strength of a campaign's ground game and their mail-in/absentee ballot efforts. That being said, I'm wishing for a Trump defeat tomorrow (or however long it takes to count the votes).
I feel you, a lot of us are in a similar situation, I work around a lot of older people who rely on the insurance they got through the ACA and I shudder to think how repealing it will be a disaster for them.
