He apparently had an arsensal in his room.

A Press conference 10 minutes ago said he has no ties to ISIS, as ISIS just claimed responsibility for a terror gun attack at a Casino in the Philippines(?) that has killed 46. The timing is bizzare. Plus ISIS put out a video call to target Las Vegas.

ISIS claims every mass terror attack in this country whether or not they're directly involved.
The Las Vegas shooter doesn't seem like the type who became radicalized in his 60s. He seems more like a heavy gambler who feels like one of those casinos ripped him off and he wanted some payback.

No, people are just being assholes.

If it was a politically motivated terror attack of course President Trump would tweet about it.
It would be no different than when President Obama would call a Press conference to blame guns and the 2nd Amendment, etc.
Each had/has their way of getting their anger across.
Additionally, the person of color he would not. A Sudanese man shot up a White church last month killing and injuring parishioners worshipping, and no one barely said a thing. Thete is a JD investigation but not much publicity.

Mass shootings have always been occurring - I remember being in Australia in the early eighties and reading about a McDonald's massacre - it made International headlines. We would constantly hear stories about mass shootings - look what happened in the 60s at the Berkley (?) college.

All it takes is one person to get their hands on a gun legally or illegally and they can cause extreme Terror and human carnage. Politician cannot stop it otherwise we wouldn't have Chicago Philadelphia Camden Trenton St Louis New Orleans Etc, which have either a complete ban on guns or excessive restrictions.

So cowardly target innocent concert-goers enjoying themselves, from a 32 floor story? With an aresebal of guns? This was premeditated mass-murder...if he was really angry at a casino he would have targeted the casino.
My best friend's son's girlfriend just got back from there yesterday and she probably would have been partying there at a free concert. It's just so shocking.

There was plenty of coverage on the Sudanese immigrant shooting per below, supposedly it was a racially diverse church. To be clear, President Obama NEVER blamed the 2nd amendment, and NEVER advocated for its removal, he ALWAYS, let me emphasize that, ALWAYS advocated for common sense gun law reform that are/were supported by the vast majority of Americans, such as closing the "gun show" loophole, and more funds for mental illness/treatment.
He kept the promise he made in 2008: "I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won't take your handgun away." https://www.realclearpolitics.com/a...ama_a_threat_to_the_2nd_amendment_129259.html

These types of mass shooting will always be with us, sad to say, the stats below are very sobering when you compare the US to other countries...

I do agree he wanted the loophole changed and l agree with that. However, a gun is a commodity just like a car unfortunately, so who can tell a seller in Tennessee for example, he can't sell his gun to his neighbor. Our disdain doesn't over-ride the RIGHT to bear arms. You can try to legislate it ( we have straw purchase laws in Philly), but the exchanges just go underground or laws get circumvented.

As for mental illness, what defines it in this day and age? It is cut and dried schizophrenia and bipolar? Or does it include a bout with depression or PTSD?
The slope is too slippery, and to deny, for example, a young mother who's being abused and suffers from depression as a result, the need to buy gun to protect her and her family from an estranged, stalking, threatening boyfriend is unfair.

People will always get around the system or the system will become so restrictive that the Second Amendment becomes basically toilet paper. Which is how the Left do things. Create so many laws you end up like NY and NJ.

The Sudanese Church coverage paled in comparison to others. It was a predominantly White Church.

I think we can agree that Terrorism can be broken down into categories - Domestic and Foreign, followed by motivations/Agendas.

The question remains, is terrorism the act of terrorizing innocent people congregating in a crowd by firing on them? Or does one need a political motive.

This happened during the same time, 3 shot, yesterday.
Is it any less traumatizing for these concert attendees, who aren't getting mass coverage?

This man bought this automatic weapon and nobody questioned his motives?

I don't have a link, but I seen the police chief labeled it domestic terrorism in a interview on tv. And Las Vegas as well https://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-202.html#NRS202Sec4415

Does Hillary think that if 515 people suddenly dropping like flies (heck even 100).. others would just stand there and not run?

    Not to mention...
"It is a real shame that this shooter did NOT have a silencer on a rapid fire automatic rifle because had he had a silencer on that weapon, then after about 10-15 seconds of continual firing the silencer would have melted causing the weapon to explode in his face. So many lives would have been saved.
Hillary has no idea what she is talking about. But we knew that, didn't we?

With all due respect, I'd say SilverSmith's sarcasm is understandable. It's the same 'ol thing over and over again. A retired police officer whom I know posted a direct quote (I didn't read or hear myself) from a spokesperson in Las Vegas who allegedly stated in his comments... "White American male: that's not the normal profile, for people that do this type of act."

Absolutely! Obama said this time after time, but opponents always spun their... "He's coming to take our guns away", narrative.

Well extreme mass shootings ARE rare, but they have run the gamut of perpertrators. No one assumes one type anymore.
My own initial guess was white male, perhaps even a liberal, like the DC shooter. Next was Islamic terrorists... then, and very least, a Black male. I never thought a woman, however.
Thusly, no one can ever tell today, even bombings-wise, because of American terrorists, Tim McVie and Bill Ayers.

We agree it can be a slippery slope, and criminals will break the law no matter what laws we pass, but closing the loophole, would not, remove the right to bear arms, just require people to register and provide more tracking information, again most Americans, by a large margin, approve of closing this loophole.

As far as the mental illness proposal from President Obama, it would only have affected a small % of people with mental challenges, and did provide an option for them to still be able to legally purchase a gun.

    What was the rule?
The regulation, finalized in December under Obama's tenure, required the Social Security Administration to disclose information quarterly to the national gun background check system about certain people with mental illness.
While the list of eligible mental disorders is long -- ranging from anxiety to eating disorders to schizophrenia --those who would have been reported by the agency had to meet two main criteria: a) They were receiving full disability benefits because of a mental illness and couldn't work and b) they were unable to manage their own benefits, thus needing the help of a third party to do so.
The Obama administration estimated that the new rule would have affected roughly 75,000 individuals annually.
And according to a report by the Office of the Inspector General at the Social Security Administration, 81,000 disability awardees would have met the criteria in fiscal year 2015, which amounts to about 9% of the total disability awardee population.
Those affected would have been notified both orally and in writing that they could potentially be prevented from buying a gun.
Such individuals would have been allowed to request a relief from any firearm prohibitions if they could show evidence that they didn't pose a risk to public safety.

Do you have gun rights in NY City and Boroughs?

    really....?

If a guy is using a silencer, it is much harder to access the threat if you are not close to the area where people are being harmed. Why is this so political?
I have literally been in an area where no one was harmed but people were firing shots. I could tell because I HEARD it. Left the area by the way. Her comment is not simply in this context.

Also I want to point out that this guy got caught because hotel residents heard the shots. Had that been a silencer, the numbers would be higher because it would have taken more time.
