If they cast a white woman, she'll be a friend or the relationship will only be alluded to, like in Hancock with Charlize Theron. Now that I think about it, they'll probably take Rosario or Dania, you get the black and Latina demographics in one. Well, you get that with Zoe SaldaƱa as well, so there's three likely names right there. Lol Or maybe the black Brit woman demographic using Naomie Harris? But don't forget about Thandie Newton and Sophie Okonowedo as well.
My bet, the writers will re-script the love interest into a platonic one like it has been in his past movies, if he gets one at all, they may nix the female role altogether lol If they try to keep it close to the script, then it will definitely be Latina.
Is this scene in the Director's cut version of the movie? I've only ever seen the theatrical version of the movie.
Interesting. Still didn't go far enough but better than the theatrical version. And for Hollywood it wasn't just that it was the rarity of a black man doing anything intimate with a white female on screen, it was also the fact that that white woman was married to a white male with whom she had a child. So the "betrayal" would have been even greater. Will Smith must be one of the Charlize's few leading men who actually towered over her.
Trust me....I know. She never looked hotter than she did in that blue jumpsuit she wore in that film.
In an interview, Charlize Theron stated that it did happen and was kind of disappointed that the scene was cut .
With the exception of if being yet another "Black guy as a criminal" themed movie, I thought Focus was a fairly entertaining movie with actual love scenes between Smith and Margot Robbie, their love story did seem to be genuine and they ended up together at the end. Not ideal given that they were both criminals but at least their connection seemed real and Smith and Robbie had good on-screen chemistry, must be something about those Aussie/former British empire gals....
It's a fresh move and the love scenes were actually genuine. It could very translate into that when Smith and Robbie get together again in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. But, Will Smith should not be the only black male actor who can get off on having performances with just white women (or non-black actresses). There are many black male actors out there who would like to tell a story of a romance with a white love interest. However, they are always stuck with certain barriers that simply just want to reinforce some stereotypes that could never come to life since a certain audience find it "unrealistic" and want their world to not be challenged. However, there is hope.
Y'all seen Focus? What do you think? I saw the kissing scene with Charlese Theron. Not worth all the hoopla. One five second kiss. Several kissing scenes Will Smith with Margot Robbie in Focus. Not naked. Not porn. But several kissing scenes. So much so that there were rumors they were having an affair They are working together again in Suicide Squad. They were gonna work together for a 3rd time in Independence day 2, but Producers didn't want to pay the $20 million plus salary to obtain Will Smith to reprise his role. That's all you're gonna get from Will Smith. Jada won't allow any more...
LOL! How were they going to work together for a third time when Margot Robbie was never offered a role in the Independence Day sequels? Smith turned down those sequels before Robbie even knew they were making such films, something I learn by catching a couple of their interviews when they were promoting Focus. No Hollywood trade has ever claimed Robbie was being pursued for the ID4 followups in the first place. So this has nothing to do with Jada putting her foot down.
I'm currently listening to IGN's movie podcast from last week & they mentioned that Will Smith said in Empire Magazine that there will be a Love Triangle between Deadshot, Harley Quinn, & The Joker. Makes sense. That sorta was going on in that "Batman: Assault on Arkham" animated movie that came out last year.
