NP. I know it's a really confusing thing and most people don't know that's what goes on. It's basically legal fraud. The b/c is changed and then the adoptive parents become the bio and legal parents. It's a weird thing. The new parents may not have even been in the same country/state, etc where the baby was born too. But as an example, there are many white couples who adopt Black babies. Those baby's birth certs would show that those people are their biological parents and that the Black child came from two white parents.
No thats deep. Lets talk about her family...theres something really up with that....more to come on that.. For me if u throw your parents under the bus what will she do when crap hits the fan as a bw.
Oh for sure there are some issues with the family going on. I'm betting she will come up saying she was abused etc. Her friend was interviewed a couple of a days ago and said there was much more to the family story and tossed around some words. She obviously cut ties with her parents at some point for whatever reasons. It's really hard to say what will come. And while some have held the parents up as being heros (due to adopting Black children), there could be all sorts of issues there. I do wonder if she really did actually legally adopt her brother and what the story is there. That's rather unusual. It seems pretty complex
Jon stewart on her lying....and how foxnews is now pushing.....see theres no racism.
Another layer.. When TDK said she gained an education, he was inadevertently right, which is why l reiterated his comment. While he was referring to her suing Howard, l though he knew of the separate issue she had with them - per her application that garnered her a scholarship. Rachel said faculty thought she was black and were pissed that a WHITE girl showed up at the school....Here... ***** She got a full scholarship to Howard for her art, which specialized in portraits of African-Americans. The school, her father claims, “took her for a black woman” because of her subject matter although she presented herself as white at the time and wouldn’t begin to change her appearance until years later. Turns out things weren’t always easy for a white student on campus: [Rachel’s brother] Ezra believes the only reason his sister would change her identity was due to the racism she claimed to have encountered at Howard University, where she graduated with her master’s degree in fine art in 2002. Rachel, he added, would often complain that she was treated poorly as one of only a few white students on a mostly black campus. “She used to tell us that teachers treated her differently than other people and a lot of them acted like they didn’t want her there,” Ezra said. “Because of her work in African-American art, they thought she was a black student during her application, but they ended up with a white person.” He said that the experience made her angry, and it was then that Rachel started being “hateful to white people.” She ended up “self-hating,” he claims, which, if true, helps explain the psychological pressure to “become” black. A bit more detail courtesy of a former Howard student: While nobody doubted [Dolezal’s] racial identity [at Howard], the former student told BuzzFeed News that some faculty members were critical of the motivations behind her work. She noted one professor specifically: Tritobia Benjamin, who was well known in the art world as an authority on black female artists. “Dr. Benjamin was very critical of Rachel,” the former student told BuzzFeed News, because although she was white, she “captured the black body in her paintings,” particularly black men.
Didnt read the whole thing but gleened that people were pissed cause a ww got a scholarship....its a damn shame the oppress act like the oppressor
Being Black to you is akin to being in a prison?? I really hope that's not how you view your Blackness. It can be a struggle at times but shit man let's not act like we're living in Mississippi in the 1840s.:smt009 Wanting to be Black and recognized as such isn't White supremacist thinking. No White supremacist in his worst nightmare wants to be a Negro. People are layering all kinds of political and social/cultural baggage onto this woman that IMO doesn't fit. The reason it's easy for nearly any ethnic looking woman with a tan to pass for Black is because there's such a range of pigments and facial structural features in the Black community. We got Yaphet Kotto and Tracee Ellis Ross and every shade and type in between. I'm not mad that I can't pass for Korean. Nor am I upset that a WW with a tan could pass for Black. It's a reflection of our community's diversity. People are mad like Dolezal is cheating in some way. The crux of the matter is she didn't really IMO receive any special favors as a White woman passing as a Black female. That's why I don't really get the anger over it. If a WW were to try to pass as Black, I'd hope they come at it from a position of empathy and educating themselves about the Black experience, which it appears Ms. Dolezal did. This wasn't some fun thing she did on the weekends, she chose to live her life as a Black woman. It's strange and somewhat odd, but it doesn't seem that crazy to me. There are thousands of White folk just like Ms. Dolezal all over the country who just know better than to declare that emotionally and psychologically they feel BLACK. It's just one of those things. I don't see how it's really damaging anyone. And I'm one of those people who gets offended easily if I perceive someone being intentionally racist. What Ms. Dolezal did IMO isn't racist. Far from it. Although I do get why some people are offended. I still think she's consciously aware of what it means to be Black from an academic standpoint than a lot of Black folk out here. If a White woman can so easily fool people that she's Black, maybe it's time we have a discussion about why race is so important in America. BTW I heard she's getting offers for a reality TV show!!!lol Move over Kardashians, here comes Black.ish.ish.
Here it comes up as discussion it's unpaid position, props to Dr. Hariss she gave her a fair interview
I disagree with him....greatly. She can wear the afrocentric hair and clothes.....she can take up the causes of blacks (really its not just the causes of blacks its the cause of humanity) but at the end of the day dont lie. Whats so hard about that ... she can be happy being white and do all the stuff mentioned..... Whats so hard and complex? Is darius rucker a wm now?
Why lie to the very people whom you say you are. Why didn't she say l was white, now l want to be black like you, instead of inventing elaborate stories of struggle and African life. No need to lie to everyone.
Because they think it's harmless and she's done so much good (still waiting on some publication anywhere to provide examples) but like you and Bliss said why lie. I mean look at the interview when dude flat out asked her are you African American and she couldn't answer? I'm done with this topic since there are bigger things going on like the church shooting but I really hope the new thing won't be whatever feel you are you are because for all the people supporting this shit its only going to flow one way and only when its convenient just leaving more people resentful and distrustful.
