Cool, But Did the first Black man Assassin have to be a runaway slave? Why do so many people in the entertainment industry think that slavery is were our history begins?

If I'm not mistaken the history of the Assassins Creed games starts off during the third crusades in the 1100's. There were a lot of Africans coming and going in the middle east and southern Europe. They could have made a African assassin that fit the game lore and was also a naturally free man.

 

I know right

They don't want us to know our history before slavery because it would be too empowering

 

When they made the first game, the whole point of the Third Crusades reference had more to do with the central protagonist, Desmond Miles, and when he went into the Animus, he was reliving the life there as his ancestor, Altair, who comes from a multi-religious background. Plus, they are only recounting some of the key important figures during that time, let alone events to mesh into the core plot element of the game - Pieces of Eden, etc...

Basically, important elements and events in those periods had to be considered. The first game, you're playing as an Arab. The second installment of the series, you're Italian. The third game, you're a Native American and those events followed during those times when Natives were practically considered next to shit.

And it wasn't until the PS Vita that we're introduced to a Creole female Assassin. So it's a natural progression showing off key moments during those times and it's only natural to include another important event by the form of African slaves in America. It's closer to home and it's more well-known compared to other events in history.

With word that actor Michael B. Jordan is now pretty much confirmed as being the new Johnny Storm/Human Torch for a planned Fantastic Four movie reboot, rumors have now started to circulate that the role of Sue Storm/Invisible Woman may also be open to black actresses with actress Sarima Wiley of Orange Is The New Black now being tossed out as someone under consideration for the part.

Agreed. It seems like the only reason that they even decided to go with Micheal B. Jordan as the Torch was because of all the negative squawking that was being put out by the racist elements of nerd land once it came out he was in the running for the role was just to spite them. I've said this before if they were going to go for a race swap with any of the Fantastic Four the only logical choice to go with would have been Ben Grimm, even though there would have been a fair amount of complaining with that choice as well for various reasons.

 

Why would they do this?
Now I don't even want to watch this shit. MAKE A NEW FUCKING SERIES WITH BLACK SUPERHEROES. BLADE PROVED IT CAN WORK. DAMN

 

I have no problem with blacks being cast as traditionally white superhero characters. Nothing about the FF says that they have to be white. Absolutely nothing.

I've said this a thousand times, they've cast Jesus Christ ( arguably the greatest superhero of them all) as white and it's all good. Where's the outrage? Everyone just excepts it. But, let a brotha get cast as The Human Torch or Spider-Man and it's as if those characters are being shat upon.

So, until I see white guys offended that Jesus looks like them when everything in history points to the contrary, I'll keep rooting for blacks and other minorities being cast in traditional white superhero roles.

Idris Elba would be the shit as Batman. Let's make The Dark Knight dark for real.

 

The problem isn't that the white superheroes are being shit upon with this kind of thing, but actually the black superheroes, because now you are opening the door for movie makers to say why can't Blade or Black Panther or Storm or Static now be a non black person. All fine & good to make lesser known heroes or some supporting characters who are traditionally white into a different race, but with the main characters you have now essentially destroyed the characters when you do this. It is no longer that character. Same thing if they would do it with any of the main/well known black characters. Like TDK & others have said in the past at various times just come up with new original black superheroes or make movies with existing black superheroes instead of making the white ones a different race. There are plenty of interesting black superheroes that they can make good movie franchises with. Blade was an obscure D-List comic book character at best before the original Blade movie was made and that turned him into a top tier and now popular comic book, movie & animated character.
