Love it. Started watching back when Tom Baker was the Doctor when I was a kid. Very cool stories, plus it's the first major ongoing series I can remember watching. It's probably the closest thing I had to a soap opera growing up. It was also one of the things that opened me up to British culture. After that it was Monty Python, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Red Dwarf and it never stopped.

Okay, is her surname really Hocutt?

I would assume so. I'm assuming you are asking because of Hocutt vs Wilson and the fact that he's black & she's white? Ironic huh?

Is there any overlap between these characters and Pacific Rim, or is this just an artist's personalized rendering?

It's his own personal rendition inspired by the movie. I take it you still haven't seen the movie yet? The design of the mech is similar in design to the various ones in the movie and it took two individuals who were mentally in sync with one another to operate the mech, which is probably why he used his girlfriend as his co-pilot would be my guess.

Not yet. I've been begging my son to go with me, but he wasn't interested. Although tonight he saw the trailer and it held his attention for a second. I don't know why, but he's not into sci-fi, fantasy or superheroes. Bummer.

I will never understand this mech love. The amount of money it takes to build these things. It is just not reasonable to build them. I'm looking at you gundam!!!!

I have the opposite problem to an extent. Times two. Only time I get to see any sci-fi/fantasy/superhero type movies by myself is if they are R-rated. And even then when stuff comes out on DVD or cable, especially any horror movies my daughter is always trying to be slick and tries to find ways to con me or her mother into letting her watch R -rated horror movies. Ummm....NO!

Cartoons and kids movies, period. Wild horses can't keep him away from Adventure Time and Regular Show, lol. He'll even watch old tennis and basketball games. But no LOTR, no Star Wars (except for a bit of the Clone Wars cartoon), no Marvel, no DC. What gives?
