i had all the original films and watched them one behind the other last year

it's nice to see Star Trek get the modernized hollywood treatment tho

 

The only issue I'm gonna have with this movie, is that I might undermine my viewing experience. Because I'm fairly sure that I'm going to be taking note of the visuals and special effects, to give myself a mental preview of how Star Wars Episode 7 is going to look.


And I also can't wait.

Harrison Ford has signed on to be in Episode 7(I am not sure if he will play Han Solo). George Lucas will still have a hand in the final three. Star Wars is his baby as is Indiana Jones. Disney(which now owns LucasFilms) might do a good job with the franchise.

 

i can see him resuming the role, if episode 7 stays within reasonable distance of episode 6

that would be the penultimate nerdgasm to see him reprise Han, and have Chewie with him and the Millennium Falcon

the only thing that could be better than that would be to see Mark Hamill return as Luke

my god.............

if Obi Wan could be presented as an old man and resonate within popular culture as he has, an older type Luke could do the same



in the canon, Luke has the whole jedi training academy thing going on and stuff

Luke Skywalker in later years, according to a friend of mine, becomes a Grand Master Jedi. His powers surpass his father's. Leia also becomes a Jedi Master. Her and Han's children have Jedi powers, too. Even a Wookie will be a Jedi Knight. R2D2 will alway be at Luke's side. Luke and R2 cruise space looking for potential students.Luke will eventually go to the Dark Side of The Force to gain a better understanding of it and he will return. Whether or not Mark Hamill will reprise the role of Luke is not known. I think he is having too much fun voice acting.

Mark Hamill had done a little more than Neil Patrick Harris. He did a film in the 70's called Corvette Summer with Annie Potts.The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia with Kristie MacNicol and Dennis Quaid. Black Magic Woman with Apollonia Kotero and an episode of Amazing Stories. He did other films and tv appearances, too(The Muppet Show). Neil had Doogie Howser, MD, Cold Sassy Tree(from the TNT network), Starship Troopers, Undercover Brother, and a lot of stage performances and the show How I Met Your Mother.

Whether we like it or not, the people in charge of Star Wars, have said that the expanded universe material isn't canon. So they don't have any mandate to connect any storylines that take place past Return of the Jedi.

Personally I'm glad they won't be using the expanded universe stuff, because two many of those stories have lost the spirit of what Star Wars is about, and the later years have gone off the rails completely.

My mini wish list is: that Luke, Han Leia and Lando only make cameo appearances and are not the focus of the story. The actors are way too old to be running around doing action-y things.

Also I want to see at least one of the following species as a Jedi: Ewok, Wookie, or a Mon Calamari.

I also want to see something that ties all three trilogies together besides R2 D2 and C-3PO. Maybe a surprise return of someone that hasn't been seen since the prequels.

 

It would not surprise me if he is teaching acting. Some actors do that. James Best(Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane in The Dukes Of Hazzard) has an acting school in Gainesville, FL. Some even own restaurants and small retail stores(Robert DeNiro and Angela Cartwright(Penny Robinson from Lost In Space), Kenny Rodgers, Jimmy Dean, etc.

Just further proof that George Lucas never properly had Star Wars fleshed out beyond "A New Hope" the original Star Wars film and how big a monster it would become.

 

When George Lucas wrote Star Wars, he used many sources. He used history, Greek mythology, Feudal Japan, saturday afternoon cliffhangers on tv, his youth(including his relationship with his father) racing(it played a big part in the film American Grafitti in which Harrison Ford was also in)and Akira Kurosawa films. Fox gave him about two and a half million dollars. When it was released, the critics hated it. But, it hit a chord with younger audiences. And the rest, they say is history. Joseph Campbell once stated that mythology is important to every age and society. Star Wars filled that void.

 

Lucas is on record saying that he did Star Wars mainly to do the kind of movie he wanted to see. A movie that played on all the influences you mention. He never expected it to even make any money let alone become what it has. Had he had any idea it would strike a cord with movie audiences, especially sci-fi/fantasy fans he more than likely would have properly fleshed out the entire saga with a proper beginning (the prequels) middle (the original trilogy) and end (the next three or more(?) movies).
