LOL @ this shit. The UFC thinks that Jones and Sonnen are going to save The Ultimate Fighter? They're out of their goddamn minds. This shit is stale as fuck. It's not even about who's the best fighter anymore. It's more about who's the drunkest, stupidest and most obnoxious motherfucker with the most fucked up hair cut and tribal tattoos. To think, real fighters like Ben Henderson got rejected from this show because the network didn't like their personalities, but idiots like this get on. And Sonnen and Jones fighting is a total joke. One of the worst mismatches that they've put on a major card in a while. Dana White used to always take shots at boxing, but now he and the Fertitta Brothers are running the UFC the exact same way.
Shogun is fighting Gustafsson I'm looking to see what happens between Bendo and Nate Diaz, as well as Penn and MacDonald.
I'm a huge Shogun fan. Hate to say it but his's cardio down and he's on the decline of his career. But he has been through some wars. Everyone has their time. Gus deserved it. Same goes with BJ. He's on the decline. Rory I don't like though. Dude looks like a sociopath. I hope Condit beats him again in the rematch. Rory has skills though and IMHO was winning against Condit until the stoppage. Yeah and Bendo is my man. Fought with a toothpick in his mouth lol.
So UFC 157 is going to be headline by Rhonda Rousey vs. Liz Carmouche. I might try to buy this PPV event.
GSP should be fighting the winner of Big Rig vs Rory Mac and Diaz should take a tuneup fight against someone looking to break into title contention like Koscheck
fitch vs maia will be the one to watch one of the top technical wrestlers in the UFC (as well as one of THE MOST difficult guys to get to sub) vs one of best BJJ blackbelts in the world i think the key to this fight will be whoever has the most improved standup reminds me of matt hughes vs renzo gracie way back yonder the X factor was hughes' evolution as a striker, and renzo's lack of it give me a shoutout when joe rogan says the same thing tonight :smt033
Renzo was coming off a three year layoff. Nobody would doubt Maia has better stand up. Maia's striking is decent I guess, but that overhand left is very predictable. Since neither are especially good strikers, it might come down to which is the better grappler. Maia is a lot more agile at 170. But that might not phase Fitch who thrives on a lay n pray/wall n stall strategy. The card overall is pretty good. I'm looking forward to Aldo vs Edgar and Bigfoot vs Overeem the most. Rashad vs Nog and Edwards vs Vallie-Flagg should be interesting as well. And that flyweight bout between Benavidez and Ian McCall might just surprise us.
It's good to see actual martial artists like Uriah Hall in the UFC. Guys like Anderson Silva, Uriah Hall and another beast out there Michael Venom Page. Those type of striking is what going to bring more fans into the UFC. Michael Venom Page this guy is a beast to. I remember ESPN's PKA Karate program. It was on that show I saw the likes of Bill "Superfoot" Wallace and Abel Macias. ln the mid-90's, I saw a match on tv between Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie. Royce sustained a broken arm but he kept on fighting. Shamrock won. Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos really impressed me with her relentless aggressiveness. When she beat Gina Coranno(then The Face Of Women's MMA) to a bloody pulp, there was nothing to stop her. I wonder if she will return after turning in all her belts after a performance enhancing drug was found in her system.
I'm definitely looking forward to this card tonight. Kos vs Lawler, Faber vs Menjivar 2, Machida vs Henderson, Schaub vs L. Johnson, Stout vs Fodor...even Rousey vs Carmouche. Some of these are guaranteed KO finishes. Also, I think Ronda might lose this one. Carmouche is a beast.
Oh, and Kos might take umbrage with Fitch getting cut from the promotion, and take that out on Lawler. Guaranteed headbanger.
