I honestly didn't know that you HAD to pay back a certain amount per month, based off how much you borrowed.

I always thought you could borrow 100 grand and set monthly payments at a bean. You'd be paying that mothafucka off for the rest of your life, but still

Then I read somewhere that for every X amount you borrow, your monthly payments increase. So in reality, you could be looking at 1000/month repayment.

You ain't lying I had to school someone on taking out 200k worth of loans for a Phd in English. Standard interest is around 6 percent which is 1000 bucks on interest and that's before you get to principle. Some people aren't rooted in reality either.
