But why call her a slut? I got a friend who does that right now. Her motto is if they have a mutual understanding of what the terms are then whats the harm? Its a tough economy and I won't knock what people feel they need to do to survive.
That's why I have never for a second judged drug dealers.

Yup. Oldest profession in the world. Some guy is always gonna want to screw, and some woman is going to be smart enough to capitalize on that want. After all, sex isn't so bad in the grand scheme of things. If it's not your thing to hire a prostitute, then fine, it's not your thing. If it is, then do you. I don't see why people need to be judging the women (and men!) who are providing a service.

Supply and demand, my friends. Supply and demand. :)

To some, having sex before marriage makes someone a whore, sleeping with too many partners makes someone a whore, engaging in certain sex acts makes someone a whore. The point is that it depends on YOUR view of morality and what YOU think is appropriate. But, that certainly doesn't define morality for others.

Obviously, in some people's eyes, it is a real job. It seems a terrible injustice to judge anyone's choice as wrong, no different than judging a choice of partner as wrong.

Whoa, I'm not calling her a slut. Just a whore. If she has to sell her body for money then well...she's defenitley a ho

Oh Iggy, you're so funny with your lame attempts at insults sometimes. You and some of my other favorite posters MUST hang out. You're just too alike not to. :)

If you read the whole title of the book, you'd know what it was about. Might actually help you understand a little bit better about the words you use now and then.

Now go run along and play. The adults are talking. :) Toodles!

I didn't say you couldnt call her a whore if that's her job. I dont know that there is a bidding war, however, I would assume she'd have set fees for certain acts.

And probably because secretarial work pays shit.

That's a fair and thoughtful response. On the drug dealer thing, I'd have to say those involved in violence, I'll judge. Those who aren't, who cares, really. Drugs should be legalized anyway.

I have to spread the rep some more. I owe you one for your clarity and perception here.

Well I guess since times are tough for some folks, you gotta do what you gotta do but personally, if my gf or someone I knew did that for a living, I would be utterly disgusted by them.

I have no respect for women that sell their bodies.:smt078

And YOUR insults are even lamer. Asking me if I've ever read a book before? Come on:smt043

How do you feel about men who sell their bodies?

Good question. I'd probably feel the same (especially if the guy sells his body to other men just to make a buck...eww haha)

I don't think its as common though.

And after thinking it over, I guess some females (and some males) got to do what they got to do to survive financially. All I know is that I could never do that lol.

Bless your heart, Iggy. You really thought it through. I couldn't do it either, because turning sex into work instead of play would be no fun for me, but I don't have a problem with other people who do it, so long as they aren't being exploited.

Thanks for thinking it through, Iggy. THAT is what discussion is about. :)

Not that it was a sugar daddy situation, but my great-grandmother lost her first husband back in the 1920s & used to sell herself to feed her kids because she found no other options at the time. That's how she & her kids survived until she remarried right before the Great Depression hit. It's not like she was proud of it, but she wasn't ashamed of it either.

She did what she had to do. There were not a lot of opportunities for women back then, especially women with kids. She kept her kids fed - she has nothing to be ashamed of. You and I both know we'd have done the same to feed our sons if we had no other alternative. The kids come first.

Exactly. My granny was a strong woman, & I loved & respected her very much. She always put her children first. Growing up I'd hear her say all the time, "I'm not going anywhere until my kids are gone." because she was determined to be alive to be there for them, & that is exactly what came to pass. I asked her once how she knew she'd live longer than her kids, & she told me she prayed for it every day & had no doubt that God would answer those prayers. My grandpa was the last of her children to die, & when my dad told her he was gone she said, "Well, I guess I can go home now.", & she died less than two weeks later. I miss my granny,& I wish my son could've known her, but he was just over a year old when she died.

Wow, great family story, Tam. You were lucky to have her as long as you did. My parents were both born when their mothers were in menopause, so my grandparents could have been my great grandparents easily. I never knew any of my great grandparents, and the last of the grands passed when I was about 20.

Your granny will live on in your stories, which you've passed to your son - and she will live on in the stories he tells his children too.

Thanks, Pixie, it was definitely a huge blessing to have her in my life. I like to think I inherited my feistiness from her. There were many great stories, & I've always wanted to write about her life. I wish she was here to tell me more about it. I need to get busy writing down what I do know. Hopefully my son can appreciate her through those stories.
