    I've always hated it here (& places like it), but like a dummy I let life kick the shit out of me & was convinced by others & myself that I was stupid to want more out of life. Of course I came to know better; I just have no idea what I want to do or where I want to go.

    Yeah, he's been here most of his life, & he can't see leaving behind his childhood friends or his grandparents. If I ever escape, I don't see him staying behind, so hopefully he'll learn that life has more to offer. I just wish the hard-headed little shit would've have wanted to go to college, but he always hated school. He didn't believe me when I told him that college was different & worth a try. Hopefully he'll change his mind at some point. I couldn't wait to get out after I graduated.

    He's 19. Right now he wants to work in the oilfield because of what it pays, but he's not had much luck since jobs are hard to come by these days. He's been doing temp work for the company that's traveling around remodeling Wal Mart stores all over the place.

    When he was in high school, he wanted to get into making video games & animation. I know I'm biased, but he is a good artist IMO, & it would be nice for that talent not to go to waste. He's not put much effort into his art since high school, & he really doesn't seem to know what he wants to do long term anymore.

    Since he's not in class room motivated, has he thought about any online do at his own time type art or design classes? If game design & animation is something he's still interested in doing, he'll need some sort of minimal design/art education to even get in the door. He'd definitely make some good money if he decides to pursue that especially if it's something he really likes doing.

    We've actually discussed that a little bit, but the last couple of times I've asked him about it, he doesn't want to talk about it. I just want him to get his shit together sooner rather than later, but of course, like most 19 year olds he thinks he knows more than he does.

    His priorities these days seem to be playing X-box, partying on the weekends, & being a slut. There may be an opening with the company he's been trying to go to work for...he should know something by the end of the month when the crew goes back to work. I hope he gets it.

    I'm going to create a new diet plan. It's called the GOP/Tea Party diet.

    Step 1: Listen to the Republican debates, in particular, listen to Rick Perry and Michelle Bachmann.

    Step 2: Consider what would happen if they got elected into office.

    Appetite diminishes. Nausea and disgust increase. Waistline shrinks.

    Diet success!

    I'd say give him a couple of years to figure out exactly what he wants to do with his life. If by the time he turns 21 he hasn't figured it out, then I would start to worry. Primarly IMO just make sure while he's being a slut that he doesn't complicate his life by getting someone pregnant or get to heavily into partying and you should be good.

    I have noticed lately that some of the high school mentality & his friends who have it are starting to irritate him, which is a good sign. Like normal parents do, I just want him to have a good & happy life. Even as slutty as he's been lately, he is extremely conscientious about birth control & protecting himself. Thankfully he hasn't partied too hard lately...he tends to be the designated driver for his loser friends quite a bit lately.

    All the bolded indeed good signs. As long as he continues to be that way, as mentioned, you both should be good and hopefully he will come around sooner more so than later in chosing a path in life he wishes to take.

    That came out of a discussion I had with one of my friends earlier. She's a republican and she was like 'I was so disgusted this morning, I couldn't even eat my breakfast after listening to that crap in the car.' and I was like 'Funny, I had the same reaction!' and she goes 'Heck of a weight loss plan, right? Being disgusted with your own party?' and I said 'Well, I think we're all disgusted with your party- the Tea Partly element in particular....wait... we could market that!' lol
